What can I do to improve the experience of a player who joined the first time?

As I’m advertising the game I want to increase the retention and improve the player experience. Can I have some help?

Give something valuable to people.

That’s just it.

Make like a daily reward system if their isn’t one already or like a hour reward or something

Consider making a tutorial system that runs through how to play and gives first time players an idea/experience of how to play instead of trying to read something that might not fully load in or be thrown into the game straight away

I have been observing new players coming in my game. There are many types of players, but I think the most important factor is: do they understand the game?

How can players stay in your game (and enjoy playing) if they do not understand your game?

Players (and I’m guilty of it too), can be really quick to judge. Make sure players get to know your game (for example, a tutorial) before they say goodbye and never come back. Give them a push in the right direction by showing how fun your game actually is.

If its also a long tutorial a skip button I would recommend having a button to retake the tutorial incase they don’t know what to do perhaps

I gave it an hour. The core gameplay works. It’s a simple enough competitive game. But…

Why do other people go faster? It’s not the rocket. Holding W and keeping a straightish line should have me near the front of the pack. But it doesn’t. The trolley seems to get off the line faster but that’s about it.
The option to mute boomboxes doesn’t persist. I suppose it won’t matter soon. Luckily it was music I liked.
Customization outside of choosing cart type seems to be broken or unexplained. I saw some crazy carts but the vast majority were default.
Having your cart fly up/down seems broken. Just a slow glide downwards.

Probably the biggest filter is the relatively high skill floor. I didn’t have any trouble placing top 3 however I’ve played PC games my entire life. Out of a twenty player start three quarters of them die by the twenty thousand stud mark. Mobile users are going to have a hard time dodging when obstacles are minified by being on a 5 inch screen. This accounts for over half of Roblox users. I imagine many players don’t like having to wait minutes because some players have no problem pushing sixty, eighty or even a hundred thousand studs.

Here are some things I suggest adding:

  • A welcome badge
  • A nice welcome message
  • A daily/hourly reward system
  • A free item when they join
  • PREMIUM BENEFITS!

Hope this helps!
