I’m making an inventory where the player can view notes that they have collected for my horror game. While everything works perfectly, I feel that it looks very bland. I think I’m happy with the colour scheme though, it’s what all of my UI follows. The concept of the game is that you’re escaping an abandoned laboratory, and currently the idea being the inventory is that you find some sort of device which allows you to open this menu (As if it is a screen), although it may just become a random built in thing.

I personally think by removing the gradients (or by making it look subtle) would make it go a long way.
I also think you should perhaps add a bit more padding in certain areas as well.
You could add some overlaying noise or change the sound effects a bit so that they contribute to the horror aesthetic some more.
