I recently started making a game about survival on an island. But I can’t decide what is better - on realistic terrain or from blocks.
(if you have any other ideas for improvement, let me know, I’ll take them into account)
realistic terrain for sure, nobody likes the GAG art style
Realistic is way better especially if it’s a survival game, you can make some nice terrains, and caves etc. You can look at a game like “The Survival Game” for reference

In my opinion you should probably make it realistic
But even if you do join the dark side you should probably add more deapth like hills instead of just flat (speaking of hills you should probably add sand dunes realistic or not)

Thank you❤️, but a sandy piece is a beach, not a desert. It turned out big for me (But the idea about the dunes is good) I’ll start finishing the island soon. And I’ll show it in a new post.
I prefer the realistic style a million times more than the latter. Also, maybe it’s just me but I think that if you go with the GaG style, a lot of people might not want to click on the game just because they’'ll associate it with one of those slop games.. you know? I could be wrong.

both can look good. if you stick with the realistic terrain style, it will pay off with how realistic it looks and that real life nature feel. if you use the classic style (don’t call it gag style) it’ll look basic and plain but if you put your heart into it, it can look just as good if not even better than the realistic terrain style.
of course this is subjective so use what looks best for you and don’t let anyone else turn you down because of ‘retroslop’ or sum
Thank you for your opinion. But I have already decided to do it realistically. And I put an end to the retro style (let’s call it that) it looks boring. And my eyes sometimes quickly start to get tired of this style.

Number 2 is nostalgic.
Number 1 to waste time
Number 2 for profits
The first style (realistic) looks better, but truthfully the second style (blocky) would perform better with all the mindless consumers and trend followers on Roblox that like blocky games for no other reason than to fit in, they would play it.
