What is the best way to create a map for a game?

What is the best way to create a map for a game? Terrarian, or meshes or combine it? Something diffrent like snow zone and city zone, or only City or only Forest (Example). I want to achieve cool map :).

i would recommend adding terrain, but it takes alot of memory in the game, if you are going to make a large sized map, like an open world, then you should go for meshes and part. Also you can add regions to your map, like a snow tundra, a frozen shore, and more. But it depends on the style of the game you want to achieve

In my opinion, it depends on the type of game. If it’s a simple combat/fighting game, make the map sorta dense, but not too small. If it’s for a roleplay game, make the map larger, with a less organized layout (assuming it’s not for a military game; if it is lay it out in a very specific way)

For a terrain build just make sure the terrain isn’t to ‘repeating’ where you can get lost so easy due to it being so similar everywhere. Lots of people make this mistake.

ALSO ALSO, use meshes for larger maps. Reduce lag AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!!

If you can’t for some reason, maybe lock the game to PC so them mobile players phones don’t explode while playing your game.
(that last part was obviously a joke, i hope)

It depends on what type of game you are intending to make.

Most importantly, sketch out what you want your map to look like before you build it.

I think pbr material meshes are best for games with realistic and smooth plastic parts or meshes for low poly games and for better performance roblox default material. If u not good at making meshes use terrain.
