What is the best way to help a player determine their location?

I’m creating a large sci-fi game, and with very many identical corridors, Its quite easy to get lost. Past labeling the sections or adding a minimap, adding unique decor would be a bit difficult given how the corridors are made, as well as the style I’m going for. So, are there any other ways to help a player determine where they are at a glance?

You just listed the many of the best methods of telling the player where they are. Telling the player where they are is best done with a combination of an actual map in addition to visual queues like props, lighting, signs, and wall colour schemes. These tools are used in many repetitive maps in many games and you should take some time to pull apart how other games do this effectively.

You should really spend time to examine if maintaining the style is worth the player being lost. I personally always lean towards function over form, and strongly recommend other map designers do so as well.

The best ways you can do this are the ones you already mentioned, as minimaps and labels do help players. But if you don’t want to do any of those, you could try adding coordinates or something. You could also try changing the colors of the sections they are in, but I do recommend making an openable minimap so that players can see the entire map. I’m pretty sure there are a lot of tutorials about that on YouTube.

I am if you find a player who comes out low who knows how to run who is extreme in what he does so you were asking how I find this player just assess how people run if you will Players who like to be fast but there are others who don’t like more radical styles than the others so which of these players were you looking for that has good manager input It’s simple if I were a player I would make my opponent tired so he wouldn’t be able to reach me and not even know the maze as he would be saying since he would be a little dizzy
