What is the best way to make a game with melee tools?

I am trying to make a testing game with multiple melee weapons that all function the same way but with different animations, damage, hitbox, handle, etc.
I am unsure or having trouble with choosing how things work with these weapons and would like some tips and advice.

My suggestion would be going for OOP - (Object Oriented Programming).
You can branch off, structure, and add more things much easier.
