What is the point of the "likes given" stat?

So there is a likes given statistic on profiles which just shows how many likes you have given. But it seems pretty pointless to me. What is it useful for?

I suppose even in General, it is a way to see all your stats, basically Stats is Stats. And your profile stats include everything you have done on the Forums and how many times.

What is the point though, like there is no stat that shows how many posts I have marked as a solution, or a stat that shows how many bookmarks I made stuff like that.

In some discourse forums the likes given stat is a requirement for a new trust level (e.g. 100 likes given).

Usually to determine if the user’s responses were helpful, if the user created a cool creation, etc. Nothing special but trust and authenticity.

You could ask about the design philosophy behind these statistics on the Discourse meta: https://meta.discourse.org/

Pretty much the reason they exist here is because they come with Discourse by default.

Well, look, as I said in General only, it is a Statistics of all the things you do on the Forums. Also to clear off, there is a Bookmarks Statics. And in a Statistics everything is basically included, say for example you play a
Gangstar Video Game which has your stats…

For Example…

Time Played:
Cops Killed:
Gang Members Killed:

Or something or the other and it has everything, just like that our Forums may lack one or two stats but it basically covers all our our Main Important Stats.

Some people like to know random stats about their account. Others try to read people by how many likes they received vs. given. You can go deep into the psychology but I guess that’s pretty deep for a developer forum.

By the way, there is a stat for bookmarks.
