Been working on a fighting game for a while everything is going smoothly but I can’t seem to make a good menu UI.
Specifically working on a menu that incorporates everything a fighting game would need. I noticed a lot of fighting game’s have similar UI.
Prototype menu
I have a bunch of similiar prototype’s so I thought I would use the best; Besides that I feel like the menu has a bunch of wasted space. Such as the big huge title
It certainly doesn’t look bad, so well done on what you have so far! But if you’re looking for areas to improve the design, I can make a few suggestions:
The layout feels a little misplaced. There is a much larger gap on the left and top compared to the bottom and right side of the screen. Mainly the button cluster on the bottom left.
The game title text is a little plain - perhaps consider designing a logo graphic and using an image? This will allow for more interesting font and effects, such as a spiky outline.
A huge title is perfectly fine, actually a good thing, because that’s what players pay the most attention to and will remember your game’s name. Without that big title, players won’t remember your game if they haven’t played it for a week.
Your UI looks great in my opinion, but it reminds me more of a shooter game than a fighting game. I have to admit, though, that I rarely play fighting games and have never developed one, so I’m not as familiar with them as I am with other genres.
Suggestions for improvement
Make the “Settings” button longer so that the font is exactly centered under the two buttons above it
Make the “Play” button a bit shorter so that it’s lined up with the two below it
You could adjust the font a bit to make it more suitable for the genre.
Tips
If you are looking for a font, you can find good examples on Google Fonts and then search for a suitable font in the Toolbox (or you can use a predefined font from Roblox)
You can plan the UI in Figma, as it offers many more options for UI design. You can then import your UI into Roblox Studio using a plugin.
