Hello all, I’ve just been getting started with GFX-making. After spending a few days on my first project, I had the thought that I should probably consider what I would do, if someone were to use my art for their own game without my permission. I’m the kind of person who probably wouldn’t mind in most cases (I would just ask them to credit me), but as an assurance, are there ways for me to “file a copyright claim”, in Roblox?
I’d thought of watermarks, but they didn’t seem like they’d be that effective, unless they’re particularly large and/or opaque. And I thought just having the raw files should be enough evidence of ownership if it comes up?
I apologize if this has already been asked a lot, or if it’s a newby question. I’m still pretty new to the community
hmm interesting, in my knowledge as of right now there’s no copyright protection offered by roblox for any of the assets people create. Even if you try to report you can’t see any option to report for asset stealing…
The best thing you can do is just watermark properly, just place your watermark where it looks a lil hard to remove.
Talking about copyright protection many of the GFX artist just use pre-made models from roblox studio, without the permission of the creator similarly with the UGC items.
so in the end you can’t stop those people but if you watermark you work properly you will at least get credit for it. cause most of the people who steal GFX aren’t capable enough to make one and hence can’t remove the watermark too (not always but mostly as of what i’ve seen)
I’ve got my GFX stolen but there’s always my watermark with my twitter tag in there so free advertising LOL
Simple solution: put a watermark. Unless you’re putting your image in the game, you should always have it watermarked and the watermark should preferably contain your nickname and be hard to remove.
Like everyone else is saying, use a watermark, just DON’T make it obnoxious, make sure it blends in with the render well, and never post anything original quality, make it a bit low quality so it’d be useless for others, always have proof of work, and be sure to contact the person who has stolen your art (If it does get stolen) and contact them in private asking them to remove your art or provide credits (Your choice).
