What vibe does this song give off?

Looking through my tracklist, I’ve noticed that I only ever write melancholic songs, it’s kind of what I’ve always done. I play the piano and I’ve always associated it with sadness lmao, so I’ve never really bothered trying to invoke different emotions, which I know is not really good practice lol.

So I went out of my comfort zone and tried something different. Not really sure the vibe it gives off though, I’m not the best with that kind of stuff if you already couldn’t tell by now :sob:

What you guys think of this? Where do y’all think this would play in a game? I’m interested to know if I’m headed in the right direction as this is a first for me.

*File got corrupted (hence the random bitcrush and filters) so I didn’t bother fully mastering it :sob: soo it’s unfinished

fever dream type stuff
honestly i’d make the lead have a higher note rn it sounds off
some moments are out of place as well, like the “adlib” on the 1:02-1:04 mark
you definitely have a direction but it needs more refinement

appreciate the reply!

i am aware it has problems, when making projects i dont go back and refine thingd until the full structure is complete (or if i absolutely have to) this project isnt (wasnt) finished by any means

i unfortunately cant do much about it as the project file got corrupted so unless i remake it from scratch this is all that’s left of it :( was like a one hour creation though so it’s all good

if i could still edit it, id probably take your advice and remove the adlibs lol, i’ll take fault on those :sob: being real, the brass and guitar ones dont belong there. went ahead of myself there :joy:

do wish i had it in a different key, C major drives me insane

Sounds like the kind of unease you’d expect to hear from a point between reality and fake attempting to mimic human music. It’s the right spot between “sounds bad” and “sounds good” to where it sounds eerie.

As a music producer, this is pretty good for something made in only one hour, and definitely emulates that mildly-bad old game feel. I can totally relate about the piano thing, lol. My only complaint is the lead notes follow one after the other almost every time. The part after 2:30 ish is really good, though, its main melody feels more natural.
It sounds like a track for a racing game with really bad car models and destructible physics.

I would use this in an overly happy game where everything looks fun but VERY slight things are off like characters only smile when your close or smile when you look at them for more then 0.5 seconds

it feels like I’m watching a liminal space video with changing images and a song in the background
