What would be the best approach to designing a hybrid obby game?

Hey, there! Recently, I was trying to make a collectathon 3D platformer for Roblox. Although, recently I found out the stars system I have didn’t work with universes and I didn’t know how I’d fix it. So instead I decided to not stress myself out by removing stars since I do not know how I’d fix them. (I still have the system saved elsewhere)

Although, this means that the typical 3D collectathon platformer approach was long dead, so me and my team decided to go for a hybrid obby approach. It’d keep the dashing and the double jumping mechanics but it’d have no stars.

This is where I got kind of worried on how I’d design a game around this concept, which is why I’m here. What would be the best way to design a game like this?

Thanks!

Don’t know if you still wanted help with this or not, but Collect-a-thons tend to be on the story side of things. Without the story and collection it would be an obby with cool moves. Collect-a-thons and 3D platformers also tend to be more open and flat for more comfortable controls, whereas obbys are usually small platforms above lava or nothing by sky.

Stars are not the only collectable that you could use. Lining up coins and using them for in-game cosmetics could be an idea to try.
