Where should I start making music?

I want to start making video game music for a game I made, but I have no clue where I should start. Does anyone know any things that I could use to make music? I know that there are a bunch of things for composing music, but I don’t know which one to choose, as there are so many.

tbh I would use bandlab, It’s pretty beginner friendly and creates complex pieces (It has a pc download and an app on the appstore.)

Bandlab. It’s a free app DAW(music creation software) and it has great tutorials on YouTube.

Getting more into it, you’d need expensive software, but it opens a lot doors.

I use Splice and Ableton. I pay for Serum as a synthesizer through Splice.

Splice is a website you have to pay a subscription to but it has samples and synth presets. Well worth it

I got Ableton for free(some one else paid) but FL studio is another option.

You have both free and paid options. The paid options are obviously more advanced.

I actually already have BandLab, but I gave up on it because I couldn’t find the sounds I wanted. But since you use it, I’m going to give it another go. Thanks!

Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll go look into those. Also, I actually already have BandLab but I gave up on it because I just couldn’t find the sounds I wanted. But since now two people have recommended it to me, I’ll really try to see if I can find what sounds I want on it.

If you are concerned with sound selection, I don’t know how much money you’d have available, but here are options.

The prices would be.
Ableton- $99($8.25 a month for a year)
Splice- $10 a month($20 a month other option)
Serum- $10 a month for 19 months.

You can rent to own Ableton and Serum, but you need Splice to rent serum through.

Splice is basically the Steam equivalent of music production. It’s where you get all your sounds.

I recommend watching some tutorials on Ableton and Serum first. Ableton takes some getting used to because the interface is lowkey ugly af. That’s mainly why some people prefer FL Studio. FL Studio also gives lifetime updates so you won’t have to buy updates. Fl studio is about the same cost as Ableton and it doesn’t make a big difference which one you’d prefer.
