Which lighting is better for my horror game

Lighting 1

Lighting 2

Difference:

  • Lighting 1 uses no fog, just the game’s natural lighting which is blue & purple.
  • Lighting 2 uses a blue fog, mixed in with the game’s lighting which is blue & purple.
  • Lighting 1
  • Lighting 2

I like Lighting 1. It looks clearer and scarier.
Anyway, good luck with your horror game!

Both lightings look good! I’d say the second lighting is better since it’s more visible. Horror games that are too dark aren’t good, that’s why the second one is great since you can see things. What game is this for?

This is for my horror game called Banjo’s Diner. It is inspired by FNAF and it will release in 2025 Spring.

Blue is a relaxing, calm color.

If you want everything lighter, maybe shift the hue to more of an eerie green.

Or, go with a warm, dull yellow.

First of all, it looks great.
I’d say the first one is better and more crisp. Just make sure to give the player a flashlight since it is a bit dark.

Also, add a shortish range dim point light with shadows off to the player. Its a little hack to compensate for dark rooms by making stuff visible when you are close, while keeping the dark atmosphere.

I’m afraid to do this cause I don’t think green will mix in well with Purple lighting.

Players will have a flashlight, that’s not debate since like you said it is a dark atmosphere.

I also might consider doing that dim light trick, thanks for the suggestion!
