Starting today, I am no longer able to open the composer when using desktop mode on my phone. I use desktop mode because I dislike touch-optimized interfaces and discourse is no exception - there are lots of minor changes to mobile mode that annoy me enough to not use it.
It previously worked okay but today I am just seeing this. It also happens in landscape.
Still happening, the composer will open blank with no input or submit button if using desktop mode. Using mobile mode is really tiring and I’m hoping this can be solved soon.
Thanks for sharing. I tried on my phone and I can still compose after requesting desktop site. I specifically tested creating a new topic and replying to topics/posts.
Just a heads up that we’ll keep an eye on this, but most likely this is a Discourse thing that we don’t have much control over.
I created a Safari PWA for DevForum on my iPhone 15 plus running on iOS 18.6.2 (not sure why the big jump). I’m assuming iOS version 26.1 isn’t the cause of the problem since you reported this in July.
In the Safari PWA, I don’t see an option to request desktop mode, which I assume is because PWA is basically one “mode”. My PWA looks like DevForum with two arrows at the very top and nothing else.
I still can’t repro after trying to create a new topic or replying. I’ll try to think of other things to try to repro
