Why do already custom-uploaded songs get deleted?

I don’t know if this is an ongoing issue with other people, but it has irritated me enough to make this post.

So, I’m a person who likes a lot to compile music for my playerbase to be able to use freely, with already 380 songs uploaded. However, there’s one issue I’ve been facing recently in the past weeks, including dating back to a incident back in 2023.

2023

Back in early 2023, I created a boss fight for one of my previous games. The song in question was Xtrullor - Rip It, and it got approved first try. I would go on to make a 2nd boss fight, this time using Xtrullor - Samsara. Then, suddenly at the end of 2023, the first song would get nuked for copyright, and further uploads would get the same treatment aswell. I checked if it was copyrighted, which apparently yes, but no. By giving credit, and not using it for commercial purposes.

What exactly would “commercial purposes” be, though? And for further confusion, the 2nd song, which is ALSO by Xtrullor, hasn’t been deleted/copyrighted since it has been uploaded. But is it because it followed the conditions, or is it something to do with Roblox’s AI moderation?

Games using said custom-uploaded songs

There’s likely a ton more, but here are some examples:

  • Uses the songs Warak - Reanimate and t+pazolite - CENSORED!! Both which trying to upload nowadays seem to always get nuked for copyright, despite those being in the game since 2022 (And they’re not bypassed either!)
  • This game features a catalog of music similarly to what I have in the start. In here, you can find even more Xtrullor songs, such as Xtrullor - Paracosm. And yet again, trying to upload them yourself will likely have it removed in a instant. They’re not bypassed either, too.

Conclusion

I could be the wrong one here for perhaps misinterpretating said issues, but I can’t be completely sure either. Does the AI delete those songs off the copyright list, or does it delete them because it knows there’s already a existing version of the uploaded song? I wish to get a response, or any sort of comment on this, because I still don’t understand why and what is occuring here. For a final example, I’d like to use Creo. I’ve uploaded a ton of his songs, and none of them have been deleted, despite some having the same “Licensing Terms” as previously mentioned:

Using Newgrounds to see licensing terms could be “unreliable”, but I’m not too sure on why Creo songs get approved if Xtrullor songs with the same terms, get deleted.

Hi, @Blacklightsy.

You earn robuxs from games you made, so probably commerical

Maybe. But I still left to question why the other games can have them.

Same games may be getting the Audio through by getting the Audio from the Audios that are publicly usable through the Creator Store. There’s a potential chance the same song you’re trying to use may have been uploaded onto here and is publicly available, however there could also be another slight chance that the song, or a potential audio containing a small portion of the song, has been uploaded to DistroKid.

DistroKid is the distribution service used by Music Artists to be able to upload their songs, BUT a couple of people I work with on a Rhythm Game with have noticed that such distribution service can be used to also upload audios for easy public distribution. This would be good if such service didn’t also cause audios that contain samples or sound similiar to it to be automatically moderated and marked as copyright.

TL;DR: Yes it may have something to do with Roblox’s AI moderation. The first song, Xtrullor - Rip It, may have been uploaded to DistroKid and is either 1. Publicly accessible through the Audio tab in the Creator Store, 2. uploaded but not marked as allowed for redistribution on Roblox, hence the auto takedowns, or 3. Sample/Portion of the song is in another upload, rendering it unusable due to the sample.
