Why is the average playtime in my game so little?

I did a few test sponsors for my game to see if I should put in a big sponsor yet, the average playtime is extremely low and I’m not sure why, let me know what about my game might not make people want to stay for longer.

  1. Lack of Players
  2. Why should I play this game over any other simulator.
  3. The UI could be improved on.

The game is high effort, more so than many simulators but I can’t find myself playing it for more than 10 minutes alone. Maybe get more players from them to interact with or add more NPCs?

When I got into the game, I didn’t know exactly what to do at first. Though it prompted me if I wanted to join a race and I hit yes. I don’t know if this was related but then I started flying upwards. I’m not too sure why but I think it’s a bug. The only way for me to get out of it was resetting my character. As well, the normal gameplay doesn’t seem too interesting.

The above, and it doesn’t have any sort of description, so I didn’t know what I was supposed to be doing at first. Than I hit jump, but it still didn’t really make sense…

Alright, I assume I should add some sort of tutorial because it can be confusing at first.

I found a very big bug if the arrow goes all the way to the top of the bar for jumping thing and you spam click it will make you fly all the way up.

Alright, I added some sort of tutorial that let’s you know what’s going on.

There is way too much going on in the game for a new player.

I’m greeted by a tutorial I can’t stop for my own pace of reading, a prompt which asks me to join a race, and all I really know how to do after the tutorial is how to flip my character. The tutorial needs to be a bit slower if not manually progressed by the player, and more descriptive if possible.

You need to flesh this game out more. There is:

  • Way too much stuff going on.
  • Some UI elements are obnoxious or just uninspiring.
  • Bugs! There are so many bugs that I wish it was more enhanced!

Example of a bug of when I was teleported back into the lobby from said race:

Honestly, I would go back to the drawing board figure out how I can make this work or scrap the entire thing.

Can you name any other bugs you found?

I’d say people aren’t staying on for too long because there’s not a whole lot to do, imo. I suggest maybe make ads for it, people aren’t going to want to play if there isn’t other players joining in on the fun. You get me?

I’ve read all the replies to this post, and have played your game, but I still have no clue what the point of it is.

I was testing out the game before I advertised a lot of money into it, so if it’s because there isn’t any other players there then it shouldn’t be a problem when I actually release.

I’m working on a better more interactive tutorial, thanks for letting me know.

I’d say that your game does what Legends of Speed already does but in a more tedious and less engaging way. At the extreme end of feedback, you may need to rethink your game’s direction entirely to make it stand out.

The tutorial was quite here and there it was going a little fast that I didn’t get to read all of it when joining, I think instead of having an automatic tutorial have players read it properly so they can skip it or exit out of the tutorial.

The game lacks details and proper mechanics the game play is about jumping to gain more height and power to go on buildings. Perhaps add buildings that players will have to collect, sorting things to gain more power and sell that to get other useful items, it could be used in the progress or not it isn’t required in any kind of way.

The gameplay mechanics are similar to an existing jumping simulator game you should try changing a few things up in order to have players stay longer and return back. Add quests, things that players will have to achieve in order to gain a reward back from their hard work.

Try adding a more proper tutorial perhaps place screenshots showing what to do “For newer users that don’t understand” - even if you’re trying to keep it simple and straight to the point. I wouldn’t spend robux on sponsors on something that isn’t fully finished or still a work in progress project.

Alright, I added a better tutorial.
