Why not give Mesh textures too?

I’d like to make my lava monster glow with the new material so it looks like he’s really part of the lava but ROBLOX does not support texture with meshes, maybe just this one texture or all the current textures can be supported with mesh?

Meshes support textures. Materials aren’t just any ordinary textures. Meshes don’t support materials.

Do you mean materials? Try to make sure you’re using correct terminology. Textures and materials are different things.

Yes Materials sorry I was adding textures to my monster for a moment and accidentally typed it in not thinking correctly.

So yes Materials are not supported with meshes I was wondering if maybe this could become a new feature even if Neon is the only Material that would be added.

Actually if you want to get technical, meshes use material (.mat) files in order to have the bricks detail like grass, stone, and so on. ROBLOX however doesn’t make their material assets accessible to specific meshes because the physical objects that use materials (.mat) files are using bump maps if I recall or normal maps. Last time I inspected through the ROBLOX files I think it used one of the two… I’m not quite sure, but basically only textures files are able to UV wrap to the file based mesh. It’s not supporting any other maps other then a texture file.

Really hard to explain for me I suppose, but it has to do what their able to connect to and use. There’s probably a good few reasons for this performance wise but you’ll have to settle for what it is until they decide to change it. - Unlikely.
