Why won't Terrain subtract tool cut through parts?

I have a part with a decal and I’m trying to carve out a river, but the terrain subtract tool won’t cut through the part.

The first time I did in the video was turned on ignore parts and nothing happened. Then I turned it off and still no results. I also increased the brush’s height to reach the terrain and part.

The terrain tool doesn’t work with parts. Maybe try using Solid Modeling.

Wait. Were you trying to cut the part, or the terrain? I thought you were trying to cut the part, which is why I told you to use solid modeling.
