I am not quite sure if other players have experienced this issue yet, but whenever I close the Roblox client or Roblox Studio, my wifi suddenly shuts down.
I have entcountered this issue many times (for almost a week now).
Possible causes I thought of:
I recently got a new wifi router and since on that day I’ve been getting these issues.
I am using ethernet and not manual wifi connection
An issue of Roblox which hasnt been fixed yet
Because I Alt + F4 the game
I have made my researches alongside looking at other social media apps such like X, Reddit and such on, but nothing really had an relevant topic that could help my issue.
Note: This applies only to Roblox and not other games.
I would appreciate it a LOT if anyone in this community could help me and solve my issue!
I haven’t encountered this issue at all but this is extremely odd.
Does the entire wifi shut down for everyone or does your OS shuts off the connectivity? This seems to be something with your OS (Corrupted Wifi Drivers?)
Try updating all your drivers and if possible update wifi too. (Possibly need to do a full reinstall of the drivers)
This is an unusual issue, but it is likely not a Roblox bug. It sounds like your Network Adapter or Router is misinterpreting the sudden connection drop when you Alt+F4 as a “sleep” or “reset” signal.
Here are the most likely culprits to investigate:
1. Disable “Energy Efficient Ethernet” (Most Likely)
Windows often forces your network card into a low-power state to save energy. When Roblox closes, Windows might be aggressively cutting power to the adapter.
Go to Device Manager > Network Adapters > Right-click your Ethernet controller > Properties.
Under the “Power Management” tab, uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”
Under “Advanced,” look for “Energy Efficient Ethernet” and set it to Disabled.
2. Router “Green” or Eco-Settings
Since you mentioned this started after getting a new router, your router might have “Green Ethernet” or “Traffic Shaping” features that interpret the massive, sudden packet drop from a forced Alt+F4 as a signal that the device is no longer needed.
Log into your router’s admin panel and check for any “Power Saving” or “Green” features on the LAN ports and disable them.
3. Alt+F4 vs. Proper Shutdown
Alt+F4 forces a hard process kill, which abruptly severs all socket connections. If your network driver is buggy, this can sometimes cause the driver to crash and restart. Try exiting using the in-game “Leave” button or the File menu in Studio to see if it triggers the same network drop. If it doesn’t happen with a clean exit, you know it’s a driver/socket handling issue.
4. Update/Rollback Drivers
Since it started with the new router, try updating your network adapter drivers from the motherboard manufacturer’s website (not just Windows Update).
Given that this started after the hardware change (new router), I would focus heavily on Step 1 and Step 2 first!
