Worrying HUGE increase in datastore failures

In the last 2 days, there has been a massive increase of errors with datastores. The error filters shown under are mutually exclusive, one doesn’t include the other. Aggregated it’s over 2879 errors yesterday alone.

Those 2 errors shows different errors happening,

First one is: 502: API Services rejected request with error. Error code: 9007 Reason: Service Instances Unavailable

Second one is: DataStoreService: InternalError: Service Instances Unavailable API: {Api}, Data Store: {Datastore name}

Thanks for reaching out. I am an engineer on the Data Stores team here at Roblox. I understand you observed a spike in Data Stores failures roughly lasting from Saturday, August 16, 2025, 6:00:00 AM to 12:00:00 PM (GMT-07:00). Just want to confirm that I see the same errors on my end.

These errors were due to a temporary issue on our backend servers that has since been resolved. I also see that the errors have subsided, with no spike in errors of the same magnitude in your experience since.

We apologize for the temporary disruption in service. In order to help mitigate temporary gaps in service availability, we recommend wrapping your API calls in pcall and implementing approriate retry logic, for example, as implemented in this code sample.

Yeah the time of the spike was in between those time, so I would assume that this was linked to the temporary outage.

I’m still experiencing a lot of these internal server errors as of the past 3-5 days
