1. What do you want to achieve?
I’m currently developing a ship game and recently built the bridge. There are several telephones there, and I would like players to be able to interact with them to call other locations on the ship.
For example:
Player 1 is on the Bridge, approaches a telephone, picks it up, and calls the Engine Room. Player 2 in the Engine Room hears the telephone ringing, approaches it, and picks up the call. The two players would then be placed in direct contact with each other through a custom UI. Whatever Player 1 types in chat while holding the telephone would appear in Player 2’s UI, and vice versa, until one of them puts the telephone down.
2. What is the issue?
With Roblox’s recent Age Groups update, Roblox has started restricting custom chat systems and has apparently taken action against games that implement them.
Because of this, I’m unsure whether a system like the one described above would count as a custom chat system.
So my question is: Would a telephone-style communication system between two players be considered custom chat, and would implementing it violate Roblox’s rules?
