Hey guys I was wondering if having Lucifer as a boss be against the tos . Im planning on making him a boss and when he appears the lightning in the game will be red with creepy Music . Is this alright with ROBLOX ‘s rules ? I am not sure because there are mentions of religion
As always with these “is having x in my game allowed,” if it isn’t necessary to the narrative, and removing/replacing it with something more mundane works fine. Just… remove it or replace it with something more mundane. Name is “Demon” or “Devil” since neither of those thing are religion-specific (many religions have versions of demons or devils or evil entities).
Remember this going forward too, and apply it as needed
The only time religion is mentioned in the Community Rules or Terms of Use is Community Rules 5 and 11.
Rule 5
Hate speech or actions. You are not allowed to engage in discriminatory speech or actions, based on any of the following:
- Race or ethnic origin;
- National origin;
- Religion or religious affiliation;
Rule 11
- Discrimination. We explicitly honor diversity in age, gender, gender identity or expression, culture, ethnicity, language, national origin, political beliefs, profession, race, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and technical ability. We will not tolerate discrimination based on any of the protected characteristics above, including participants with disabilities.
Both of these are about being jerks to people because of religion, so you’re probably fine unless there’s a rule I missed.
If you are unsure of the rules about something, don’t do/use that thing. That’s my advice.
I disagree.
‘Lucifer’ is portrayed as a villain in many forms of media, such as the TV comedy Lucifer and the game Lucius. He is also the embodiment of evil in Christian theology. Having him as a villain is not discriminatory or transgressive; it is no different to a vampire or werewolf villain, or indeed using Hades, the God of the Underworld, who is the villain in Percy Jackson (and Wonder Woman).
Apologies to have replied to a thread already solved. Regardless, you would be offending nobody and setting no precedent by making Satan a villain.
As a more applicable rule of thumb, demonising a religion (e.g., Jesus being a villain) is poor form; using Satan as a villain is an example of Roblox’s multifarious cultural and artistic value.
It’s better to get clarification than not doing something that you want to add into your game.
I certainly agree, however for devs without the opportunity of DevForum, this may not be the case.
