I’m creating a camera system for a minigames type of game and I like how it’s turning out, but I’m concerned that players may be confused by it. This camera works by looking from top-down onto the character without being able to move up and down, only left and right. Many games outside of Roblox have this type of perspective, but as the majority of Roblox games have complete 360 capabilities for 3rd person, I’m concerned they may mistake it as a glitch or simply may not like it.
What are your thoughts and general feedback about it?
(Sorry for the laggy video)
Young players will be confused, and some older players outside of the US might also be confused at first (this is because outside of the US they learn differently).
Older players inside of the US might be the most likely to not be confused.
To counteract this, I would recommend a help screen.
It’s not necessary, but I think it makes the game more interesting, unique, memorable, and maybe even more fun to play than with the classic camera in my opinion. It also adds an aesthetic that I think not lot of games on Roblox have.
