Would this high-risk, high-reward system be considered gambling?

Hello world, I ask this question on behalf of a group for a game I’m working on.
We have ourselves a little dilemma; we want to integrate a risk/reward system into our game. It’s as follows here:
If you win, you have 2 options: cash out your winnings or get 1.5x of your previous earnings on top of what you earn next round if you win again. But if you lose next round, you lose all of your earnt up savings and just get the base winnings. It goes like this:

Round 1 ended, you get 100cr for playing and 400 for winning; do you cash out now or do you put these earnings on hold to get 1.5x the amount if you win next round? (let’s suppose yes)
Round 2 ended, you get 100cr for playing, 400 for winning, and 750 is still on hold by risking your earnings from last round; wanna do it again? (again, let’s suppose yes)

And here’s where things get tricky. If you won, it’d go:
Round 3 ended, you get 100cr for playing, 400 for winning, and you have that 750 from last round. Tallied up and times 1.5, you get 1875cr. Wanna do it again? (no, let’s cash out)

But if you lost, it’d go:
Round 3 ended, you get 100cr for playing, but you lost this round, so you don’t get the 400 from winning, and you don’t get the 750 from last round. Sorry. You get just 100.

Now… 2 things to consider:

  1. This is for a semi-competitive game. No chancing; skill and talent is rewarded.
  2. The credits you buy with Robux aren’t affected. This is just from gameplay alone. You don’t lose credits by losing a round.

That said, I still feel like it could be considered gambling if you twist it the right way. So that’s why I turn to you, Forum of Devs. Are we mistaken?

If there is no chance then this not considered gambling. You don’t lose anything so it’s completely fair. Though, just to be on the safe side, maybe give the players who lost the second round half of what they would get.

That is:

  • You get 400 for winning the first round.
  • Go again and lose, you get 200 for winning the first.
