Would you play this?

I have previously worked on a medieval adventure/strategy game in a studio. After some misunderstandings the project was cancelled and I have resorted to leaving the game alone. I am here making a poll to decide whether or not it is worth continuing it.

Would you play it?
  • I 100% would play it! Neat idea!
  • I mean, eh, it is okay, I would give it a shot.
  • I would definitely not play it.

Questions:
Would you play this with your friends?

Would you play this by yourself?

Is it a good game concept and be worthwhile to continue?

Short game description:
You choose from four different kingdoms. You can build structures, walls, barracks and other things to grow your kingdom. You have to protect your kingdom from npc goblin raids or player wars which can be declared on other teams. You can make allies and boss raid with them. The currency is gold and can be earned from mining, farming, and bartering. You can explore different zones that have different shops located in them. The shops have armour and weapons that can be used for defending, attacking, or raiding. For your kingdom, you will have to strategise wall placement, money management, and what troops you recruit.

do you have a version of the game we can play?
or atleast better your description, i cant really make a decision.

The game that I have right now is not organised nor playable. I don’t think it would be wise for me to make it playable as of right now. For the description part, I can’t really cover the whole game without telling it as it is already.

I feel like this would be a very neat concept. The ability to have wars and conflicts like that would be definitely an interesting feature. One question is it your choice to choose which kingdom you are in? I think it would be cool if like the kingdoms were based off of personality, so you could take a little quiz to see which kingdom you should be in.

I don’t think you should continue it. I think this is another one of those dream games most devs set themselves to make only to realize half way through development that the game is too big and complex to actually finish.
If you really want to continue it, go back to the planning phase and reorganize everything, cut unnecessary features and set your self a development schedule.

I believe it could be successful, although if you were serious about this, I would look around, make sure the idea isn’t stolen, make sure you’re not copying anyone. I like the concept of your game, it could succeed!

It sounds like a great idea but also a lot of work. So if you’re ready to work on it for months or possibly years then go ahead.

Sounds like a really cool idea but I have heard this exact same idea from a bunch of other games in the making as well. But even with that I would still definitely try it out!

Currently, the player picks their kingdom if it is available. I really like your idea and I will put it in my list of things to possibly implement!

Could you explain deeper about why I shouldn’t continue it and why start back at the beginning when it is mostly already completed for beta testing?

It is almost completely done which is a shame that it got cancelled at the last minute. At the very minimum, it should take a few weeks to finish and open for beta testing. Thanks for the feedback!

Because you said “The game that I have right now is not organised nor playable.”
Basically my advice is: beware of feature creep and keep the project organized this time if you do want to finish it.

That is because I have separated each system into a seperate game or section and haven’t come upon the time to implement every system into one game. The project itself is organised. Probably shouldn’t have used the word un-organised as that doesn’t properly explain the games current status. In other words what I meant to say was the project is planned out, systems are organised in their proper seperate places, however the whole game as itself is not organised since it doesn’t include every system yet.
