"Your position in queue" increases randomly when nearing low positions (including jumping between two different positions)

Recently, I was queueing to join a server with a filled queue in-order to earn an item from a launcher during the current Halloween Spotlight event. When coming close to the end of the queue, the queue started to mess up my position. More specifically, the following occurred in-order:

  1. The queue started toggling between two different positions. One which was nearly ready to join (<10), and another which was queued at >300.
  2. The queue later instead settled on a position just after 100.
  3. The queue when nearing an end for the second time. Pushed my position to a position of >700.

If more information is needed about this bug, please do let me know.

Yes. They prioritize premium players, potentially pushing you back.

this happens just the same to premium players

then there must also be verified users or admins in the queue (i think)

It might be coincidental, but I don’t believe I get pushed back in queue if I click on the Roblox window every once in a while. It might have to be with it believing you are inactive? I’m not entirely sure though, it would be great if someone from Roblox would clarify this.

Thanks for reporting this! The only scenarios where your position in the queue should increase are:

  1. Sustained network connectivity issues (>60 sec with no network)
  2. You’re following a user and that user teleports to a different game instance, which will have a different join queue

Do you recall if any of these were true when your position increased?

Hi there!

I unfortunately ran into the bug again a few days ago (specifically just part 2 - a jump of ~100) so I can answer these based on that more recent case:

The queue position decreased just a few seconds before it jumped up, so it probably wasn’t a prolonged connectivity issue, given that.

The user was streaming online and did not visibly teleport to a different place at the time, at least to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks for taking a look into this bug, hope this info helps.

Hey @Abcreator, thanks for the followup. To help us investigate this issue, could you please provide:

  • the placeId of the game you were trying to join,
  • your userId,
  • the time of the day of that join
  • how you tried joining (eg. server browser, friend carousel, etc.)
