3D preview animation playback speed affected by monitor refresh rate

I’ve been having issues with animations playing super fast in the 3D preview:

It’s playing that fast because my monitor’s refresh rate is 144 Hz. If I decrease my refresh rate, it returns to normal. I’m guessing the inverse is also true, in that if I had a slow monitor at 30 Hz, animations would play at half the speed they normally do.

This happens on Chrome/Firefox, but not Internet Explorer (presumably because IE isn’t smart enough to refresh at anything other than 60Hz). This affects not just animation playback speed, but the speed at which avatars rotate in the 3D preview as well.

Expected behavior is that animation playback and avatar rotate speeds are always the same, regardless of monitor refresh rate.

It looks fine on my 240hz monitor.

This is still happening. I’m also using a 144 Hz monitor.

Reproduction Steps
In your device’s settings, set your refresh rate to any value besides 60Hz, and then view a page with an animated 3D thumbnail.

Browser info:
User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:95.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/95.0
Platform Type: PC
Device Type: Computer

Expected Behavior
I expect the 3D thumbnail animation speed to be somewhat consistent across all devices, regardless of refresh rate settings.

Actual Behavior
It is not. The bug affects emote/animation bundle previews, accessory and avatar turnaround sequences, etc.

Issue Area: Roblox Website
Page URL: Any page that uses Roblox’s 3D thumbnail system
Impact: Low
Frequency: Constantly

4 years later and this is still an issue…

Any updates on actually fixing this bug?
I can’t browse avatar animations because of it.
