★ Bow + Simple AI Feedback {Skeletal Frenzy}

Made a bow and a simple AI for my first person melee combat game Skeletal Frenzy.

Problems I am aware of:

  1. Arrow hit sound is the same as sword hit sound. It will be replaced.
  2. AI is too simple and is not challenging:
    The game focus is PVP, there is no game mode where players will be fighting AI. The AI is made simply to be put into the game only when there is just 1 player, so that he doesn’t leave until other players join. As soon as 2 player joins, the AI is removed from the game. Because of how complicated the combat system is, making a really smart AI that adapts to the player would take weeks, and would still have tons of issues. So it is simply not worth making it more advanced.

Other than those problems, I would like to hear your feedback and suggestions.

The Game:
This is privated now, so you won’t be able to play yet, but the Alpha releases very soon (Most likely this Monday). You can add the game to your favorites and click the follow button, to not miss the release. All players that join during Alpha phase, will get a special badge, customization items and in-game currency.

Thank you for the feedback!

I agree, but there is a good reason for that. Here’s how combat works in this game:
WASD are player’s feet, and mouse is player’s Torso. Using mouse player can bend and rotate. Doing that he can either dodge opponent’s attacks (0:33 in the video), or adjust weapon’s position right during the attack, to throw off opponent’s block timing.
When pressing Mouse Button 2, block animation plays for only 0.5 seconds. So it has to be timed tightly with opponent’s attack, to actually block it and not take damage.

TLDR: Player can freely move and manipulate his torso even during the attacks, so neither torso, nor feet can’t be animated for the attack, we are left only with head and hands.

This combat system is heavily inspired by Chivalry: Medieval Warfare (The first one). If You watch videos of it, the animations are pretty similar (also stiff)
