Roblox should prevent users from putting in [SOLVED], [HELP] and [UNSOLVED] at the title

There’s too many topics that have [SOLVED], [HELP] or even [UNSOLVED] in the title but there is a checkmark next to the name, and users can mark posts as solutions

image

These are some topics that contain [SOLVED] or (SOLVED) in the title

image

Some can even contain [HELP] which is nonsense because #help-and-feedback is there for that and that’s what the devforums are mainly for

Even though [HELP] is less common than [SOLVED], it’s a major issue on the forums, not a minor issue

And I made a topic asking if it’s a good idea to put it, I private message some people who did it and convinced them and they changed it, but there’s thousands of posts having that in the title of the topic

https://devforum.roblox.com/t/2149405

And It doesn’t even make sense… Why would people put [SOLVED] when there’s a checkmark at the left of the title of a topic? Discourse have the checkmark so you don’t have to do that

if someone puts a topic in #development-discussion where it could’ve belonged elsewhere, it makes sense to put [SOLVED] but people will flag the post to get it taken down for “Improper Use of Development Discussion”

[UNSOLVED] is so nonsense, you can easily see that it’s unsolved by not having a checkmark next to it’s name, Discourse literally have a feature that has a indication that it’s solved.

DISCLAIMER

I’m not trying to attack anyone involved in the post, so please don’t do that, it doesn’t even help and only makes the problem worse.

Hooksmith, if you’re reading this, I would like to let you know that this is a major issue for that, they probably didn’t even know about the built-in feature discourse have or thinks that some people didn’t see it, One of my previous topics shows that it’s a bad idea to do stuff like this

I agree with this. Also, another one is [HELP]. It’s redundant since that’s literally the point of the devforum, and as you mentioned, improper use.

Don’t forget also [UNSOLVED]!

You are right that it is reduntate to put those words, but you are not considering the reasons.

In the case of [HELP] and [UNSOLVED], it is clearly a way of getting attention when no one seems to be interested in your problem.
[SOLVED] instead is saying that there is no need for further discussion or the user is satisfied with a solution. Remember that there are people who continue with the thread even though it has already been resolved.

The forum, reading the rules, has a similar spirit to stackoverflow. But in practice, people use the forum in a very different way.
Personally I think the forum should be brought more in line with reality.

This was definitely extreme and unnecessary.

uuhhh so you think [HELP], [UNSOLVED] and [SOLVED] is useful for topics?

read this topic even the replies please

https://devforum.roblox.com/t/is-putting-solved-a-good-idea-to-indicate-that-its-solved/2149405

and if you believe it’s extreme and unnecessary? then How can I convince others to remove the [SOLVED], [UNSOLVED] and [HELP]?

They are not only useful, but a need that the forum is not fulfilling at the moment.
Emojis were also born out of a need for people to express themselves better in chats.

I don’t know why you refer to yourself.

you don’t have to convince anyone to do what you want them to do

Ok, sometimes the translator helps me a bit.

Why is it a major issue? I don’t understand how it impacts forum users in a negative way.

Although putting words like “[UNSOLVED], [SOLVED], or [HELP]” seems like a major issue for you, it is important to point out that it does nothing to the original poster and users that participated in the post. It is neither good or bad, but saying that is it a major issue is incorrect since it is just another indication of a solved or unsolved post.

uuhhh discourse has a checkmark next to the title issue, and people has been doing that to make more people notice it but discourse would not be happy if this happens, and it’s against the forum rules to do that

[SOLVED] and [UNSOLVED] are indicated by the solution check mark, and [HELP] is redundant. The point of a post isn’t to get someone’s attention. This isn’t social media. It’s redundant, nothing more to say.

This is more of a devforum issue rather than a discourse issue. Some forums may not have a problem with this

I deleted the topic

and yes I know, but discourse implemented the solved plugin, not roblox

when i have an error, I search the web and the [SOLVED] part actually helped me know if it is solved even if there is that Top answer thing below

here is an example

I hate the [SOLVED] part because roblox installed a plugin from discourse

P.S. you need to look at the Top Answer thing down below, not the [SOLVED] it’s horrible

umm, i think roblox doesn’t add it? it might be the topic maker itself.

The topic creator 100% puts it in their title. Roblox does not do it at all and it is the topic makers choice to put it in the title.
