You may have noticed that several users have the “Leader” role. These users are taking part in a trial program of community moderation. They have all of the standard permissions granted to the leader role (see link for more info), and are entrusted to use their discretion to maintain the forum and enforce policy.
Do not contact the community moderators about forum actions or requests for action to be taken. If you see a problem with a post or thread, use the flag system. If flagging is impractical or impossible, email developerforum@roblox.com to get in contact with an administrator
The community moderator program is still in its trial phase. We do not have any plans at the moment to expand the moderator staff. If we do add a policy and path for adding new moderators we will update this thread with information.
How does the Regular trust level play into community moderation? It has the ability to recategorize / improve the names of topics, and that’s sort of moderation. Because of that, was the automatic attainability shut off and set to manual promotion only? I’ve noticed some people here that meet the default Discourse requirements for Regular, but haven’t seen anyone automatically promoted to it yet. I’m not sure if this is because the requirements were changed from the default or that it can’t be obtained automatically here.
The requirements were changed for this forum specifically. When a user is invited to the forum they are set to level 1 (Basic). They can reach level 2 (Member) through the automatic criteria. At the moment, levels 3 (Regular) and 4 (Leader) are locked. If we feel the need arises then we may re-investigate this policy and open up the other ranks for automated promotion.
Same as what @ScriptOn said. Justification for most locking is “This thread is going nowhere” and ironically I was going to contribute to the thread, so seems like moderation is turning more into censorship of everything lovely moderation by the new leaders.
Because those threads aren’t going anywhere. They don’t contribute anything to the forum. All I’ve seen locked lately are posts, meaning the moderators are actually doing their job right.
“This thread is going nowhere” is a more or less a nicer way of saying “This thread is full of shitposts and doesn’t look like that’s about to change, it isn’t by any means mature or intelligent, and it completely disregards what the developer forums are supposed to be.”
These forums should not look like RT or OT. They’re supposed to be for more mature discussion with a more mature audience. So yeah, I’m gonna lock stupid threads. The lounge’s guidelines even say “Intelligent.”
