How do I make raycast suspension? How does the math actually work?

I’ve been trying to make cars with raycast suspension, but I’ve mostly been briefly scanning the devforum and YouTube. I’ve made some success, but everything ends up glitchy, and I don’t know how to fix it because I’ve barley been following along with the video due to its complex nature. I don’t have a lot of experience with math any higher than geometry (still in school), if anybody can explain to me how it works, or if anybody can give me pointers, help would be appreciated.

Note: This is for a town/city game. I’d like cars with basic suspension and nice feeling driving, I can achieve all of the effects like opening doors/toggling headlights/locking with keys etc, but I just need something to base the car off of.
