Learning roblox programming

Hi, im a guy whos dream job is to be a programmer, and i feel that roblox is the right place to start since it has multiplayer built in and much more. But i struggle with learning it since i search up how to learn roblox programming and try one of these beginner tutorials but i always find myself quitting after a few hours. I have also tried making games about 5 times but everytime i quit since i feel it is either to hard or has no hope of getting popular. my point is that i find it hard to start learning and if anyone has any tips on how you got in to roblox programming. Thank you

The first year will always be hard for anyone learning to program. To me, it was hard understanding why things worked and to remember patterns.

If you need help, ask, look up - but even looking up is difficult because they can be imtimidating to first learners. Youtube videos are the easiest and best way to learn at surface level and you can start diving a lot deeper once you incorporate these methods into your own games.

First lets start with a question : why is programming your dream job, what in particular or in general do you find so exciting about it

I recommend PeasFactory on YouTube, he’s funny and although old, his videos are still good.

So making games is what you find fun. In that case, sitting there and watching a youtube video to try and learn, you will find yourself quitting most of the time because its boring.
What i suggest you do is open roblox studio and start making things. Think of something you want to create and start making it, even without prior knowledge to programming ( things like making a functional door / a teleport pad …etc etc), when you get stuck refer to the devforum/youtube videos/google in general and you will find solutions.
Anyway, this is the way i learned and how i recommend people learn programming. Active practical learning instead of passive learning.
I hope this helps

I’ve been in the development industry for over a year now but I still haven’t created a good game. The think I do is keep learning new thing, the tiny ones that will help when I create a game

I’d recommend people like GnomeCode and other youtubers. But personally i would choose GnomeCode because he made me understand what are RemoveEvents and stuff.

Try learning from Alvin blox if ur a beginner.

Alvin Blox is fine, but my personal experience is to not watch Alvin Blox.

For basic code learning he explains it very well and it’s fine.
But when it comes to hard stuff i reccomend these youtube channels.

I also highly reccomend to just read ROBLOX documentations.
Read the devforum for more knowledge and skills on specific stuff and maybe even play some LUA learning!
There are some pretty cool tutorials in there.

Sincerely LinusKat.
