What would be the best way to handle several NPCs/Zombies + Better alternatives/methods for AI

Now, I haven’t started to write anything, But I do want to create a chaotic, somewhat fast-paced game, that involves A LOT of zombies. What would be the best way to handle easily 500-1000+ NPCs with complex behavior and movement.

Also, Some neat methods or alternatives to roblox Pathfinding/AI would be great.

try flow field pathfinding, ffp is good pathfinding for big amount of npc
