I’ve personally found survival games to be more immersive and give you more of a survival feeling in first person. But that’s my personal opinion on it.
About the controls, I think either first or third person works on mobile, depends on how you design the buttons of course. But if it’s possible I’d prefer first person for a survival game.
3rd person, although you might not believe it, actually gives a ton of scale and feeling to your game.
Lots of models actually feel fairly small in first person, as your brain doesn’t exactly have a comparison.
I think you should allow the players to toggle between both, since people could want to see their avatar/character, as well as switch to whatever view that is the most advantageous or they prefer, etc.
It’s a lot more work. I’d prefer to have a viewmodel if I made the game in first person. That means two sets of animations for almost everything, then I’ll also have to sync them and stuff
I’d recommend using EasyFirstPerson (correct link this time), unless you want to make the viewmodels yourself. It automatically toggles on the viewmodel when you go into first person, it has support for both rig types, and it converts the character’s animations to the viewmodel.
You may have sent the wrong link. I’d rather make the viewmodels myself anyways since they’d look and work better for my game than any other open source one
