Just as a heads up, Roblox seemingly does not support the ‘40% method’ and have actively made changes to comission payouts in order to stop people from doing it. Therefore, don’t be surprised if you don’t recieve your Robux back and / or you get moderation action for using this.

From the replies above, I think this is the full picture :
This 40% cashback like fee is derived from a system that roblox implemented so if people are able to sell catalog items to others in game, it would reward them 40% of the price as a reward
While the way the fees works normally is the creators get 70% of the cut, and roblox gets 30%, with this system, we get 40%, taking away roblox’s cut and 10% of the creator’s cut
Roblox has tried to patch this, so the only way it works now is by making a group, and then using that group to make the game so that it works. The alt thing that other guy said may or may not be required for all this to work.
So youre basically breaking tos and uploading it here?

If it was truly against TOS mods would probably have taken this post down a year ago

The 40% method isn’t against TOS. It is simply manipulation of a feature. As said by a comment a bit above this,
Reminder that this was uploaded on December 6th, 2023. This post is still up, and no moderators have taken this down. While this is still bad to do, it is not in TOS and from what I know no one has gotten banned by this yet.
TL;DR, this is just manipulation of roblox fees and is not directly against TOS.

While to this date roblox has not taken action to this method, it is in direct violation of the roblox Terms of Service, specifically subsection 8 part B of “License to and Restriction of Services”
Restrictions of Use. In addition to any other restrictions set forth in the Roblox Terms or any Additional Terms, Users may not (a) lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense any part of the Services; (b) copy, modify, distribute, publicly perform or display, reverse engineer, disassemble, modify, or create derivative works of the Services or related or implemented technology
This is a modification of the roblox services (speficially the payment API and the rules in the ToS regarding sale, however, I am not a lawyer so I cannot give any legal decision) which is inherently against their terms of service.
Will roblox take action? Unlikely, but if they do, will anyone punished have any recourse? No. Because roblox has the right to terminate accounts for any reason at any time, as in the Terms of Service.
Lets also not forget, this is just taking away money to independent creators. Nobody is using this to be ethical and only take robux away from roblox’s uploaded content, this is being taken away from your fellow creators. To the developers who actively use this, very shameful.

That part of the TOS is trying to prevent people from trying to, say, trick, deceive, or pay someone inside roblox to send the source code for the payment API so someone could comb over and try to find a vulnerability or some secret code. There’s a chance that this isn’t against TOS, but just disapproved by roblox, and rather than trying to censor it in risk of a streisand effect, they just kinda tried to fix it and let it die down on it’s own rather than going through the likely difficult process of changing roblox’s TOS to include that, they just. didn’t do anything
