Add social links for Bluesky and Threads to profiles/groups

I choose to take a neutral view of things. Maybe it’ll stick and maybe it won’t. I don’t know the future

Also include links to Fediverse instances. There are many Mastodon servers that you can connect to.

Problem is how we’ll allow-list them.

If you’re willing to trust another big company, Threads isn’t a bad option since they kinda federate with other servers.

Threads died because of its lack of features and design flaws, which made it inferior to Twitter. BlueSky focused on improving Twitter’s features, and I see more and more Twitter users move to BlueSky and even praise it for being a much better experience. I see more and more people on my followed move to BlueSky since people interact with others a lot more than before.

I also think that trying to argue against adding it is quite weird. I feel that people should have more freedom to choose between Twitter and BlueSky. It’s not like we want Roblox to remove Twitter as an option, but to add BlueSky and Threads as well. I think that BlueSky has more of a chance to be added compared to Threads since I see a lot of big creators going to it

SmallAnt (He deactivated his account)
PointCrow
NathanielBandy
RTGame
MaximumADHD
Suggyiem
TeeLopes

And these are only the ones I have followed that I am aware of at this moment. I don’t think that it is a bad choice to add the platform :person_shrugging:

mastodon is kinda dead compared to bluesky atm. i tried it out and didn’t like it, it had almost nothing special and discovery was annoying

It really depends on which people you find.

I do honestly believe that this is a great Idea for people that like bluesky. As I see no reason not to add it. To me it was honestly nice to see competition for big companies like X/Twitter. Even big creators like MaximumADHD move to bluesky.

I’ll try not biased or political. Since I am NOT a big fan of Twitter, and that most people are switching in spite of Elon (Who I am also not a fan of). Bluesky did give me a terrible first impression. I’d say that Twitter is a better option for a lot of people. My first time ever on bluesky, which I am not a fan of art but my whole feed was just that. Even after using not interested and blocked dozens of people, my whole feed was still only art. I guess it somehow made my feed worse as even though I set my account age to under 18. I still got some explicit art. I got people with innapropriate username’s to follow me (one with the n word ER LITERALLY as their name). I may try it again soon as I noticed that about 60% of my followers were banned, and I joined as a crap ton of people were moving to bluesky.

I’d say I’ve been on twitter about 4 years and went about a years without seeing anything super explicit. It was pretty easy to get my feed which mainly consist of cats, animals, and Roblox to be good.

but to be for real I may try bluesky when more of my following move to it.

i prefer twitter, you can still find ur beliefs on twitter, i dont understand why we gotta add a social media on roblox out of political reasons, plus twitter is far more larger and efficient than bluesky, i dont see any worth at putting the effort

Because thats their entire reason, really

i’m not a fan of elon musk myself but bluesky is just for people who disagree politically with him that’s it

and as apictrain0 noted here bluesky has a pretty dense amount of NSFW art and (in my opinion) if you’re a conservative on bluesky you’re more likely to be censored so sure twitter is politically biased sometimes but bluesky really isnt any better if we’re talking about political neutrality

(for clarification, i am not saying that i’m a conservative or a liberal im not trying to make this political at all, im just talking about the motives behind people moving to bluesky)

I heard their reporting system was jammed, meaning you can’t even report having seen explicit art if you tried (That is, if their reporting system is still down)

Exactly, I agree with every word you said. The only reason people want this added is political which should have no place on Roblox in general.

I am not American, so the political space doesn’t matter. I just prefer a platform that I actually get traction on as I’ve gotten more people able to see my posts compared to Twitter. I also want to not have my posts be put into an AI as of the new TOS. I just want my memes.

BlueSky is growing by the millions every day. Just because Twitter is larger doesn’t mean that Roblox won’t benefit from more social connections.

I have not seen any NSFW unless I turn on the mature filter (if unregistered users see mature content then that is a problem that needs fixing ASAP). Twitter also allows NSFW content on the platform, so does that mean Twitter should be removed because of that?

Why is it so hard for someone to prefer a different platform without politics being involved in the reason? I care 0 about politics and just prefer the platform and think that with it growing in userbase; it would make sense to add it. Discord is already planning on adding it to their connections, so I don’t see it being problematic if Roblox were to follow suit.

I will no longer respond to this thread as it seems to be getting more toxic as it goes on. I am still in-support of this being added as an alternative for the people who want it

(( We both know that what goes on in America will soon go on all around the world. ))

To me it still stands clear that the only reason people want this added is political. Nobody just wakes up one day and decides to ditch one of the most popular and widely used social media platform for some random no name site that appeared not that long ago.

I’m also gonna end this here, there’s no point in engaging with this Thread anymore. I hope I made my opinion clear.

Roblox should not add Bluesky and Threads social links to profiles/groups because it’s only for political reasons. Let’s be honest, the people who want Bluesky added are liberals.

So Roblox should not go ahead with this change and focus more on important issues (such as readding robux-paid plugins, public audio and a better asset manager)

I wouldn’t rule it out but one should be wary of the potential danger on Bluesky. Young children ending up on the site are immediately shown posts without even creating an account, and as a result can end up being exposed to people saying the new Star Wars movies are good. Let’s tread cautiously.

The platform since this post has blown up and is now full of predators. This has gone from an idea id support to one that should never happen. It’s full of terrible images and terrible people. Every hour 3k reports are filed, 42k a day. Moderation is overwhelmed. It’s too dangerous.

Half of the users I follow on Twitter have either recently created an account on Bluesky or abandoned Twitter for the platform all together. This includes game based companies such as Steam, Game Informer, IGN, etc. Half of the time you spend on Twitter is spent blocking bots spamming swastikas under your posts.

Adding the ability to link Bluesky would be a great help for the plethora of devs using their old Twitter accounts to reroute users to their Bluesky accounts.

Ok, we get it, you can read minds and you can speak for everyone. Even when people talk about other points, it’s just politics, we can ignore them. Cool.

The validity of what people said here can be assessed regardless of the reason that pushed them to type them. If they are valid, they are valid, if they’re not, they’re not. If people use a platform because they like it for whatever political reason, it doesn’t matter here. If you want to talk about numbers, the only thing that counts is numbers. That’s it. The same applies to other points.

By the way, Threads is given at 275M monthly active users by multiple sources. Discord, Twitch and Roblox itself seem to be given at lower numbers. I wouldn’t boil down the question to a mere battle of absolute numbers. No need to spam about numbers all the time, they can be easily looked up and I think the Roblox staff is aware that numbers exist. Wheter numbers are big enough, what are the costs and resources etc. concerns them not you, you have 0 data about this. You can only speculate.

How can you say this? It’s only exploded in the last few days and is struggling with demand.

Give them a chance, since Bluesky seems to be a promising platform. Twitter is dying and seeing companies like Valve even join Bluesky, it’s going to be a very popular platform if it can keep this momentum up.

Might be worth reminding you that Roblox is full of predators too. Every platform is.

That’s a bit of an overexaggeration. It’s been around for a few years now if I’m right? I’ve been on the fediverse myself for two years now.

If the users are on a platform, then the companies will target that platform.
