I highly support this as I myself have moved from the hostile cesspool that is Twitter/X and moved to BlueSky instead, and I would absolutely love to link my account to my profile.
I also feel like Twitter/X should be removed entirely from being added to profiles and groups because as I said, it’s a complete cesspool and just plain toxic as its fillled with disgusting views such as, homophobia/transphobia, racism, sexism and so much more and I don’t think we should be redirecting users to a site that hosts such content with those views.
Around 80% of the people I follow moved to BlueSky entirely, and around 40% deactivated their Twitter accounts (which I might follow suit) upon abandoning them. Having BlueSky as an alternative would help me completely abandon Twitter as I think it is more toxic to be on there. I rarely even touch Twitter now that BlueSky has all of my favourite creators on it and more are doing the same.
I do think that adding BlueSky is a good idea outside of the whole Twitter thing happening. It gives an extra social link that is very popular and growing way bigger with every passing day.
Yeah same, set that up the other day for a few of my accounts.
Even if Roblox never supports the fediverse, Bluesky support will be helpful for people that are using fedi still. Although saying that, I’ve already noticed that it doesn’t mirror my posts with polls in them and it’s heavily truncated.
This is exactly what people also said about Threads and it ended up dying after a month.
100 MILLION signed up for Threads in the first 5 days (or less) since its release and it still managed to die. Bluesky is no exception here. Let’s be real.
I don’t think that is huge or even comparable to Twitter, they probably get 20x (or higher) the amount of posts per second Bluesky gets. I don’t have the exact stats so excuse me if I’m wrong but like I said this is nothing compared to Twitter.
Probably also worth observing that Twitter itself mostly just derives it’s legitimacy from news and politics events due to the way the platform is set up. Instagram still eats them for lunch quantitatively, but we don’t talk about Twitter being DOA.
Realistically it isn’t about user count. It basically doesn’t count for anything unless you’re an investor or site engineer - the more relevant stats is how engaging it is for you personally. Some communities live in different places on the internet and that diversity of location is OK - nobody needs to be biggest.
Bluesky is so much better and has more security than twitter. Bluesky has extensive moderation options for users to keep safe and only see the content they want to see in their feed.
Bluesky and Threads on Roblox would be amazing! I’m actually really tired of Twitter being on our only option when it comes to text-based social media.
The more options that we have, the bigger our reach to new users gets.
I agree but Bluesky is still not that big to deserve the attention of Roblox engineers. Let time judge, let’s see how it will do in a year. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe you’re wrong, but I doubt this platform will make it very far. Many people tried and failed like I said with Threads, this story will be no different.
Threads died because of its lack of features and design flaws, which made it inferior to Twitter. BlueSky focused on improving Twitter’s features, and I see more and more Twitter users move to BlueSky and even praise it for being a much better experience. I see more and more people on my followed move to BlueSky since people interact with others a lot more than before.
I also think that trying to argue against adding it is quite weird. I feel that people should have more freedom to choose between Twitter and BlueSky. It’s not like we want Roblox to remove Twitter as an option, but to add BlueSky and Threads as well. I think that BlueSky has more of a chance to be added compared to Threads since I see a lot of big creators going to it
It already feels that way and I see it being the reason for some big creators to move to BlueSky. I doubt Twitter will die, but BlueSky seems to be fixing what Twitter has done VERY wrong since Elon took over. Also, I love that barely anyone calls it X and still call it Twitter. I’m never calling it X since Twitter was such a better name.
