Ok I’ve made it clear with over 10 posts and replies in this thread that I don’t like this update.
With that said, if it (hopefully doesn’t) comes out, will there be a limit on the amount of “trusted connections” a person can have?

Why do I have to use Face Checks to use chat tho? This going to get so abused so easily

As the Dev of a fairly sized RP game on Roblox. I get about 80k~100k MAU.
Lol, im already in financial peril. Im going to prepare to release what im imagining to be my last valuable update, set up a patreon and quit the scene. I love my community so much but even they understand my pain at this point.
These are not conditions im willing to fight under. Nor is my community expecting me to fight under.

This will barely address anything. Moderators at the experience level are beneficial because they allow creators to gather real time context by speaking with the community and intervening in active issues in an experience. If the creators only intend to monitor chat logs, they’d just let your moderation teams handle it.
Oh cool, so there’s nothing stopping a bad actor falsely claiming to be a child in this new system and you’ll be relying entirely on the existing moderation and safety systems for the real work anyway.
Is there honestly no way you can word this that doesn’t make it crystal clear this is just a fruitless PR stunt that we the community will pay the price for?

I totally get your point. My game is well past its prime, but I’ve kept it running for those who remember it or who want to visit it. I haven’t made any massive updates to my game in a couple of years at this point.

Best thing I can say is to not give up; don’t let them drag you down with this. Keep persevering and keep being passionate about the things you want to create. My game has been a financial pit for me but opens an avenue where people can create and be safe, that’s all I need. Roblox does everything it can to hinder that, though.
I harp on this stuff so much because I believe, atleast at its core, Roblox is an amazing platform that can let people express their creativity in ways other platforms have yet to achieved. But every tone deaf decision like this doesn’t consider how much it hurts the regular developers on this site - instead of holding communities accountable for not keeping a safe environment, they press the “nuke everything” button in an attempt to fix what they left to fester. All this reads to me is an attempt to save face for the missteps they’ve taken before.

So lets go through these points:
- How will this work for games which have hundreds of servers open at once? Will this be filterable by user? Will this only be available to the developers of an experience? 99% of experiences have a dedicated moderation team that aren’t developers.
- This argument boils down to “trust us bro”. Great way to pursuade your entire community…
- Nobody asked about forums. I think the word “forum” was mentioned once.
- If this is true then why even force this change. Making it togleable would be far better and wouldn’t kill every game.
- Glad to know big Roblox is always watching. I’ve seen 16 year olds acting like 8 year olds irl, so this doesnt work.

Not making any more Roblox projects if this change is not reversed. This is possibly the single worst update they could have made to the platform within reason. This means absolutely nothing to them if I leave their platform, considering I have not spent a dime on this platform since 2019 and have not made a popular, ‘professional’, or profitable game, so I implore everyone to find another creative outlet. Find one that would preferably not support dating on a kids game or the end of online privacy.

also, i think i mentioned something on the lines of this on the last related topic, but
if roblox is going to require id verification for basic communication features, what’s stopping them from going further, regardless of if they were legally required to by some government around the world or not?
what’s stopping them from locking making an account behind verification?
what’s stopping them from locking api access?
what’s stopping them from even requiring verification to even access the entire website, regardless of if you were previously logged in or not???
the fact that they’re doing this can possibly cause an irreversible chain of events that lead to even more basic website features being locked down behind a required age check. even if roblox is very much set in stone with not reversing or holding off of the whole “verification-for-chat-features” thing in any way, we at least have to voice off opinions for any future attempts they make at locking down more features behind an id
