Will there be any way to manually prompt which song is currently playing in the music menu? If I make an OST for my game, I’m not sure if I’d like to partner with a traditional distributor.
The UI minimizes after a few seconds to avoid disrupting gameplay.
Does this mean the UI shows up unprompted by players?
Also, worth mentioning that I would find it useful to be given a basic rect + visibility state for every piece of core UI which is visible on the screen, e.g. the playerlist, chat, player self view, and this new music notification thing, so that we can avoid overlaps in our UIs.
not immediately, but yes something we are thinking about and will continue to iterate on.
The UI is driven by player action. The player would need to use the experience controls to be able to select and bring out the music section.
Will there be a way for developers to completely disable this feature (maybe something like Enum.CoreGuiType.Music
)? A lot of experiences really do not need this button in the hamburger menu, especially ones that don’t use any public music.
Don’t really understand the point of this feature regardless, unless Roblox is planning on turning itself into a music streaming service.
I’ve been having significant performance issues with the “Music” feature enabled.
Where I would usually always get around 60 FPS, it can now sometimes drop to around 20-40. No idea what causes this, but this happens frequently for me in Jailbreak. This happens regardless of what my graphics quality is set to.
Setting FFlagEnableSongbirdInChrome2
to False
fixes this.
Aw, I really wish this would work on non-public tracks too, it’d be a nice way to credit the composers on the fly.
The feature has been rolled back as we investigate this!
this audio update would be peak if this was timeless by carti
This is an interesting feature but can we disable it to avoid duplication? I already have a feature that displays the name of the music that plays during the game and they are showed in the chat.
The feature has a good idea in its core, but it would become golden if developers had the ability to disable it and if more tracks, rather than only those limited to ISRCs, could be displayed.
Im hoping this a option feature beause some games this would be a annoying pop up
it’s great big artists are given credit in this way. i hope in the future small artists will be able to be credited in the same manner as well
I hope that developers could have an api to make a popup with custom audio like to show a song preview like in a rhythm game
I fail to understand the purpose of this feature.
Yes, it’s nice to show what music is being displayed, maybe because you like the song and would like to stream it elsewhere. However, if a game experience is to have a display for audio accesible through experience controls - wouldn’t it make more sense that the player can actually control music playback? Maybe they want to skip this song, seek to a specific time, or mute the music entirely.
That’s what most games do, they already have a music playback controller. This feature seems incomplete - rather than detecting what audio is playing, I would highly recommend turning this into a Service that allows developers to add audio, and this feature would serve its purpose of displaying the song and letting the player control the playback.
And hold on,
I thought you only displayed tracks from verified sources? So now the quality assurance job is left to the players? Why would we have a “flag inappropriate” option for curated audio that your team added to the platform? How does that make sense?
Great, how do I disable this for my game?
Audio delivered to Roblox through third parties is mainly curated by the third parties themselves. Each distributor may have different review standards for tracks, which can naturally lead to issues and false approvals. Automated reviews aren’t perfect, so problems may arise on both Roblox’s side (moderation) and the distributor’s side.
How do these performance issues keep happening!? Most of the interfaces these days you guys release to us are insanely slow for whatever reason, MOST of them. Is it really that hard to make some functioning uis???
Please add a way to disable this on our games asap
Glad to see Roblox putting out more music features!
If devs need an easy way to find and insert music into their experience, we made a free audio search tool that you can use to create playlists that remotely publish to your game through our free radio plugin.
