An Update on Automated Action Against Modified Clients

stop over reacting???, do you want them to release a executor?? use your mind, there is literally rbxstu which is a executor for studio and wont get you banned, and this isnt related to exploits, this just prevents downgraded versions

Exploits are ā€œmodified clientsā€ so yes this is related to exploits.

It’s crazy that you used this and it ended up failing to the point where a t shirt was created as an apology :sob:. (and that shirt ended up breaking I believe or is still broken)

No they arent, exploits inject their own dll, they dont modify files!! so yes there u go

Then I am on indefinite hiatus from the roblox platform until an avenue to play the game on linux is provided. I will not run a spyware operating system just to play one game… I’m not even asking for official support here, just ā€œplease don’t block third party linux clients for playing the gameā€

I presume that simple autoclickers/macros are safe then? Mine are standalone applications that simply just send inputs the same way a human does. And even if Roblox wanted to detect software based ones, I could just use a hardware one instead which shows up to the system as just another USB keyboard/mouse

You can use studio to simulate exploits, such as firing remote events in unintended ways, by using the built in command bar.
You can even run exploits themselves through it.

exploits inject their own dll, which in turn modifies the client. a ā€œmodified clientā€ does not just mean the files themselves have been modified. In fact, to counter any other arguments you could make… the original post itself even states as such!

What exactly is a ā€œmodified clientā€? This post seems very vague. For instance, is modifying assets stored in the Roblox files (like the R6 character) counted as a ā€œmodified client,ā€ or is it just stuff that injects itself into the client or modifies memory? I’m guessing it’s the latter, but this is all very vague, which is why I’m asking.

I was thinking of swapping to a Linux-Based OS but if they’re banning people for trying to play Roblox normally, that is just silly. Personally I think linux clients should be given a special bypass token on this.

So many misinformation, lies and exaggerations being spread in this post.

I am not sure that this affects Sober, wait for official confirmation from it’s developers (if it didn’t release yet) before assuming things. Even if it does, Linux users are a very very small minority on Roblox but are the loudest. There’s not a significant amount of Linux players or enough revenue that would generate from it for it to be worth it to support Linux. I do not believe that a lot of Windows users would switch to Linux this year after support ends for Windows 10. Only an ignorant person that doesn’t know anything about the majority of Windows users would believe and say that. Most including me would probably run it even when support ends. As long as programs or apps keep supporting it, it will be fine for many. I want to mention a fact that a lot of Linux users betrayed Roblox honorable action of letting third-party ways of running Roblox on Linux like Sober by exploiting through it. I am not saying that every or the majority of Roblox Linux players are exploiters, just mentioning that many are. Linux has a small share of operating systems being used, and the share of gamers running Linux is even lower and out of these gamers, even less play or develop on Roblox.

As for Bloxstrap, this 100% wouldn’t affect it. Bloxstrap doesn’t modify the client in any way. It just changes the content of a json file in the Roblox folder called ClientAppSettings.json to achieve the goal of adjusting FFlags. You can do this manually too. Nothing to worry about.

Your Roblox news Twitter account posted this even though there has been no official announcement post about it, or a Roblox staff or engineer stating that or anything at all. The proof is a screenshot of a Roblox notification taken from a random account that is most definitely fake. I use the Microsoft Store UWP app of Roblox from time to time and never saw such notification, nor anyone else reported doing. This is one among many other cases. Anything for likes and comments it seems.

Your Roblox news Twitter account and Bloxynews also didn’t clarify that FFlags are not getting completely removed and instead are going to be in a whitelist. I am pretty sure you all did saw Bitdancer’s clarification comment about it.

So far 0.12% of our unique players got automatically banned for just flying.

RTC is not affiliated with roblox.
it is a community ran account

I know, I never said it was. I am pointing out the fake news, unconfirmed rumours and misinformation being spread by it.

Great, but what everyone wonders is how effective this will be. Your history on moderation has not been very good when it comes to automated actions so everyone will need some time to really see how this goes when it is applied to the whole platform rather than just an event.

But on a more positive side, I do hope this will actually work when reporting exploiters. I’ve been reporting some of them and I’ve noticed none of my reports on those exploits work as fast presumably it has something that prevents it from being detectable so all of my reported cases ended up wandering in game until they leave either out of boredom or another reason, I am not sure if they get moderated or not.

Will tools like Wireshark be impacted by this?

It’s not as simple as ā€œremoving that partā€; there were security flaws within Hyperion that, when patched, prevented users from playing on Linux. Roblox isn’t going out of their way to prevent Linux users for the sake of it, it’s just that they have no reason to try and work around it.
