I have a question: would this affect the unofficial Roblox port for Linux, known as Sober? Would the Linux users be caught in the crossfire between Roblox and the exploiters?
If so, then guess it’s time to go back to dual-booting.

It’s very likely because Hyperion is securing the Client, they obviously want to avoid any environment where the user can control what is happening (like VMs), since Sober runs Android version in specialized environment, Hyperion could indeed see it as unsafe environment and simply not run.
Yes, those should be safe to use.
ROBLOX doesn’t hate you, they just don’t care about or have an interest in maintaining Linux users
most exploits don’t work on roblox studio, so how do you use roblox studio to test exploits in your game?
Okay, how do you do when a script uses loadstring, is obfuscated, uses coreGui and more?
Most developers don’t know, but it’s not excuse to buy them.
Having a experience of making lua cheats is the best experience for making anti cheats, as you know exactly what attackers have at their disposal
If you think Hyperion developers are so good because they researched what can attackers do then no, they were real game exploiters too before they switched sides.
Subjectively it’s not bad idea if you have legitimate use.
I’m sorry that you don’t understand that simply hooking is so powerful that without that you cannot really test any anti cheat.
I hope you guys dont affect old roblox revivals
It seems to me like you’re just trying to win an argument here…
ig strawman, I have no clue if that’s correct, and stop accusing people of trying to find an excuse to buy/get an executor, and what did you mean by bragging? my best guess is about the functions, if so, you can easily look them up, but not as easily understand how to use them, like cclosures with hooks (I think that’s how you’re supposed to use them?), and hookmetamethod with getnamecallmethod, either way you have to go through someone who has exploited/hacked to know any of this stuff, but looking at scripts that use them, although most of them are obfuscated is also a good way without exploiting I think, but to better understand how exploiters find vulnerabilities you kinda have to see it for yourself (dex/rspy/decompiling (for those who don’t know: essentially read a localscript/modulescript)), and I think it’s gonna be way easier to download one than to find someone willing to show you. Sorry for the long messages by the way
When is this rolling out? All of my games have a very big problem with cheaters so I would love to know exactly when I should look for change in my metrics, and whether that change is/will be/was caused by us or this update.
FPS game owners, are you seeing any change in the # of exploit reports in your games yet?
I will give it a few weeks to see if it makes any impact. Right now it seems to only display a ‘warning’ popup that you can just click and ignore. Pretty sure The Hunt’s version of this system jumped straight to bans and, in some cases, terminations. They certainly need a better policy especially regarding alts, because this warning-1-3-7- punishment system does nothing to deter them (enforcement bans do not apply to exploit bans, or at least have not been applied in any prior banwaves). Way too many ‘second-chances’.
it has already started, ive seen a few bans/warns
Thanks to god i has uninstall fishtrap for good
Yeah no this is the exact problem lol, when you give a game this much control over your computer you’re also letting any bug or oversight in the game’s anticheat code also give bad actors full control over your system. It’s incredibly weird to me how normalized installing random drivers to play video games are now when you should only be using drivers that you actually need
It quite literally is as simple as removing that part, what? I’m not saying “make this compatible with wine NOW!!!” I’m saying that there is a literal check in hyperion for the presence of a wine environment, and if it’s detected the game refuses to launch. This is not me asking for support, this is me asking for roblox to not have outright denial for wine users. They additionally want to block VM usage but they only currently check for a gpu which is pretty easy to get around with passthrough, but if they make that more difficult then I would be forced to dual boot just so I don’t accidentally trip something and get banned.
I think you all fail to realize that bad actors and exploiters do not care if their account gets banned. There will always be a way to bypass anticheat, it’s legitimate users that won’t risk their accounts to get around an arbitrary limitation. There are quite literally undetectable tools that, when used with a properly obfuscated VM, can let you modify any memory on the system without any application being aware of the program existing. Please stop acting like barring Linux support is some “necessary evil” to prevent exploiters. It isn’t.
hey, i appreciate your reply. firstly, regarding:
we never reported on this? bloxy_news did when they posted “Roblox will remove the ability to edit Fast Flags locally via programs such as Bloxstrap”. we were aware of bitdancer & dogekidd2012’s comments and implication that some fflags will be whitelisted, so i .
if you are referring to this devforum post and our coverage of it, we sourced bitbancer directly when he said “Bloxstrap is less of an issue”, our approach was because of this answer not being a certainty, we acknowledged that it is very unlikely due to “neither injects into the process nor does it perform any kind of repackaging”, making it fine, but it is still not a guarantee.
secondly, regarding:
with a confirmation we had of this prompts existing from fflags, not just a blind screenshot. we deemed it safe to say “hey, this may be happening”. of course, it is not a guarantee, however, we also believe that people should also be ready to transition from a reasonable belief of a transition looking to happen.
i appreciate the criticisms. i do absolutely agree that, considering if we are not going to use an official source and it isn’t something simple and verifiable to check for everybody, we must provide the proper explanation of how people can check. for future references, i will ensure our post guidelines includes those proper explanations which warranted your doubt.
if there is anything else i can answer, consider, or take away, i would greatly appreciate that! thank you :D
