Hi, I’ve just recently came back and revamped an old game I used to work on, advertising it has been a struggle, and I have noticed when I do get a player in, they only last about 5 minutes and rarely revisit again
Now, I am aware the game goes against normal standards, there aren’t any daily rewards, UGCs etc. The goal for this game is not to create a FOMO feeling in players, it is just meant to be a relaxing pass time and an enjoyable experience.
Visually, I have received many complements, it’s different and niche and people seem to like that, however I worry the actual gameplay may fall flat.
I have tried adding little quirks to the gameplay loop, it is an incremental simulator, so I’ve got the basics in there, rebirths, upgrades, incremental simulator 101s. However I’ve tried many other things to get users interested, animated 2.5D NPCs with dialog, Secret Badges, Codes, random events that happen to players throughout their gameplay and so far one minigame that allows for 4 players to battle against each other.
To cut it short, I have no clue what more to do with this game, maybe its the thumbnail?
or maybe the game is too hard to understand? I am not sure, please anyone who has experience with simulator games let me know what I could do to boost retention in my game, thank you!!
