When a player is banned using Roblox’s Ban API, if they attempt to join on an alternative account, they are met with the following message:
“You were banned from this experience by the creator. Here’s a message from the creator:
You created or used an account to avoid an enforcement action taken against another account by the creator of this experience”
My problem with this is that it states that this is a message provided by the creator. The creator did not provide this message, Roblox did. I have this constant problem where player’s contact us, tell us we banned them falsely, they’re not an alt, and say that this message is what we set their ban reason to. This results in them refusing to believe that they were caught by the alt detection by Roblox, and instead think it’s our own alt detection.
If this were to be changed to not say that it is a message from the creator, I believe this would help reduce these sorts of messages we receive. I also think that it would help with clarity as to what actually is happening.
Expected behavior
The ban message should not say that it is a message from the creator.
This issue has been brought up in the official announcement thread about the ban message itself, regardless of whether or not you’re an alt account. Myself and others dislike the wording ‘by the creator’ as it incites harassment towards them.
Unfortunately from how this comes off, I don’t think they want to budge:
That’s unfortunate. Initially it didn’t have the prefix saying it was a message from the creator, so I was under the assumption that it was unintended behavior from that new addition. It’s frustrating having users blame us for the alt account detection (usually in an attempt to play victim).
