The following items, sold during the Black Friday 2018 sale, were incorrectly placed back onsale even after their timers ended. Other timed items in this sale are permanently offsale, so this is a bug.
My source for this information was the Roblox Wiki and the Wayback Machine.
You can also see this information in old videos of the sale:
(They went offsale after being timed for 3-4 hours)
Expected behavior
Solution for this problem would be for these items to be unavailable since timed items are supposed to stay offsale.
Specifically, these items were not labeled as discounted, and they did not stay onsale and change to their original price like normal discounted items do.
Below is an example of what a discounted item looks like, and how it states the discount in the description.
Instead, they had a timer like other permanently offsale items do, went offsale and had never been labeled as discounted. (All other items didn’t state this in the description as seen in the video)
(As you can see these items were clearly supposed to be exclusively timed, seen in this video)
This behavior aligns with other timed, permanently offsale items, which is why these items staying onsale is a bug. No other timed items have stayed onsale past their timed date.
Just because the items released as part of a sale event doesn’t mean they’re taken off sale afterwards. These items were originally released at Black Friday prices as low as two robux, and then put back on sale for normal prices after the sale ended.
If you’re going to cite the Roblox Fandom Wiki as a source, please remember to do your full research, and take everything with a grain of salt. Here the pages for all four of the “bugged” items linked clearly state these items were made available right after the sale at new prices.
The Wayback Machine on its own isn’t a source - it’s an archive to preserve information from the source. For example, this archive of Roblox’s official Black Friday 2018 blog post says that some, not all, of the items from the sale would be available for a limited time.
It is true that these hairs were brought back right after the sale, but that’s also what I think is disingenuous to players who bought these items. That’s why I reported this in the first place. Does that not seem unfair to place a timer on an item and then bring it back permanently?
And I don’t think I’ve seen any other timed sale items that exhibit this behavior of staying onsale right after a timed sale was announced for them. That’s also why I reported it.
If this was going to be a discounted item it would explicitly say that, like with other sales, with the price changing accordingly after the sale. The behavior of these items is not normal to the likes of discounted items, or atleast discounted items in the year of 2018.
Ex. Glorius Unicorn Headpiece (seen in the same video of the Black Friday 2018 sale)
I am not linking this as an example of an item that should go offsale, this is an example of an item that states it is discounted
They got these items for a total of 24 robux. If someone’s still upset after six years because they “only got a 97% discount”, then taking these items off sale isn’t going to give them the fulfillment they’re searching for.
aren’t you the same guy who made a bug report getting upset that new years items weren’t removed when it was clearly intentional because you wanted a more rare inventory?
this too, is also intentional more than likely. i don’t see anybody coming back and “fixing” this.
In that previous New Years thread, I explained that it makes sense why those items should stay up since it’s never been stated they would ever go offsale. I’ll take accountability and say that it didn’t make as much sense. At the same time I never claimed I wanted a rarer inventory.
But, in this case, these items exhibited behavior that suggests they should of gone permanently offsale, so it’s not very fair to judge me based on previous posts without looking at the evidence I collected with a neutral perspective.
These items:
Had a timer, went offsale, never were marked as discounted and abruptly went back onsale without any explanation
As I said this is insincere to the players who previously purchased these, and I’d hope you can look at my post from a different angle and see this as an actual issue
These items have no expiry date, this was intentional by roblox, please stop trying to find items just to remove them from the catalog now for your rare inventory goals.
Roblox listed in the descriptions "this item is available on a discount during the black Friday sale 2018,
Nothing was stated about it going offsale in the quote from your screenshot
The items were discounted for black friday before going from 2 robux to upwards of 350 robux so there is your black friday sale, now stop purposely posting these. Roblox also has said in the blog as well.
stop trying to fill up the devforum with waste all for your intention to have an amazing rare inventory
Your making this up clearly, if it wasnt marked as discounted then why would does your screenshot say they are, this also means each item had a different story so why link all 4 items if some had different scenarios ?
Your Screenshot provides evidence that it states “This item is available at a discount price as part of the sale” So It went on discount for the sale and after the sale doubled in price.
Roblox clearly states.
" this item is available at a discount price as part of our black friday sale 2018"
When did it ever say it was going offsale Lol.
It had a discount during the sale and now its had the discount removed from the sale, case closed.
firmly think someone might be up to engagement bait now how do you continue with this
feels like im talking to a wall
Genuinely think you just skimmed through what I said without reading…
All 4 items had the same scenario, being timed and going offsale which only happens with items that go permanently offsale or return later for another sale.
The item that had the description “available at a discount price” was the Unicorn Headband which I was showing as an example of a correctly discounted item, which does not go offsale, does not have a timer and explains that it is discounted.
None of the items I listed correctly worked or functioned as a discounted item, but as a timed item
Since most of you aren’t understanding why this is a problem and think this item was working properly, please read the bottom of my thread again. I’ve rewrote it so it should be easier to understand. I’ve also included every piece of evidence that’d you need so you don’t have to watch the video.
This is honestly embarrassing, I should not have to explain why a 4 hour timed item should stay offsale
We are just correcting you because you’re incorrect, this is intended. They were on sale for a limited time, not for sale for a limited time. The price raised after.
You should stop spamming the forum with this slop because you want your account to be more valuable.
That is not the only video or image showing timed icons still being in use during the Black Friday 2018 sale… at this point I’m convinced you’re actually the one trolling
No, I’m completely serious about these items going offsale, and neither is this the first time I’ve correctly spotted items that were falsely kept onsale
