Blender rig exporter/animation importer

I don’t really know where Blender stores such user data on Macs, but there likely is some similar folder. Found this which may help: add on - Need help installing addon on mac - Blender Stack Exchange.

I checked and the file isn’t there. I searched for it and the file somehow does exist in some way in the folder, yet I don’t see it

Never mind, I just needed to delete the file through the terminal and now I can try the addon again, thanks!

Would anyone be able to provide insight on how you could do this with models such as guns?

Hey,i been wondering if the process to animate two rigs on blender using the plugin has changed, since the last posted where this was talked about is old (around 2 years ago),and i been trying to get the rigs to work using the method on that post, but i keep getting this error when i try to import the rig onto the newly created scene, even after i renamed everything that was necessary.

I don’t know what i am doing wrong, and i would hope if you can help me here.

Looks like the previously mentioned trick broke in blender 2.80, will look into if this can be fixed easily at a later point.
I think you can still import multiple rigs in 2.79, then load that file in 2.80 and animate/export there, though.

Looks like a recent studio update has broken the roblox plugin to the point it’s no longer usable. Whenever I start up the plugin and select the rig, the UI comes up but does not set my studio to run mode, as well as display an error as shown below

When importing an animation, it does not play and the rig remains static. Also displays a similar error message:

Apart from that, exporting the rig and animating in blender appears to be fine.

Praying you have enough time to make a quick fix of this issue!

EDIT: This error seems to be popping up on legacy and current roblox animation editors as well, so there’s definitely been a big mishap on their side.

Thanks for the report, this should be fixed now once you update the plugin. (With thanks to @alertcoderf for figuring out the cause!)

Hi!

Whenever I try to import an FBX I get, “Cannot map rig, bones are missing from the source rig: HumanoidRootPart, LowerTorso, etc”

I’m not sure how to go about fixing it.

The bone names do not match between the armature in the FBX you try to auto-map to the existing armature in Blender. Try to import the FBX using the regular FBX importer and ensure bone names match between the two armatures.

Thanks for the idea, I’ll try that and get back to you. Thanks!

It didn’t work. I imported the rig from studio into blender, I then rebuilt the rig and etc, I exported the FBX, I imported the FBX into mixamo, I set the right animation, I downloaded the animation with the rig as an FBX, and when I try to import the FBX to blender using the addon I get the same error but when I import the FBX using nothing I get just the bones of the animation and the keyframes working.

I’m not sure what to do about this, any help is appreciated

Just to be safe, I even tried it with 2.79 and the old addon code. I got the same error and I don’t really know how to go about it, here’s an image.

Hi. I’m also having the same issue as Skywalker. The names of the keyframes are identical, tested over five times. There are no inconsistencies in the names. (shown below)

You’ll have to ensure the armature bone names match, not the mesh names (also @Fifkee);

(either these, or just those in __RigArm when out of Pose mode)

These bones should be in both the original generated armature and the imported armature.

Ah, sorry, my mistake.

These are the names of the bones. They are different, and I think this is on Mixamo’s end. The names of the bones have a 1 added to the end of them.

I’ll see if the animations work if I rename them to normal and export them.

Ok so, I had some hiccups on the road of doing this, but now I have the animation working inside of blender and on the rig, but when I export animation, and paste that in roblox where it tells me to, it comes up animation loaded, but nothing plays, any idea?

Is there a way I can use this to export an animation from roblox into blender?

Check if your rig works properly in the default Roblox animation editor. Make sure your animation in Blender is on the armature too, not the meshes for the arms etc.
