Pretty sure it’s already slow enough because of the RC4 cipher (not sure if anyone has told you this before, but RC4 is not secure either)
Back to the topic, I don’t think people will benefit from a library designed to be “secure” that the creator doesn’t bother maintaining, that is patching known vulnerabilities and addressing the shortcomings of the library such as the insecure & slow cipher used to encrypt packets
