As @WaterJamesPlough said, when you use second method you can define that only people with rank Developer or Programmer can have special permisions. To do this see this: Player | Documentation - Roblox Creator Hub

Because the OP has said its going to be Open Sourced, I don’t think someone makes their game in a private group and makes a new group for fans, so that method will only work out in the scenario you have defined there
