Is there a way to disable it ? I like the idea but I am working with a plugin that uses the “C” input alot and the comment input being the same is making it very hard to build efficiently.
Thank you for your comprehension.
Ah I see, I completely get what you mean now! Sorry for mis-interpreting.
Alternatively Roblox or a plugin could read script comments from outside a script, perhaps something similar to visual studio’s task list system with //ToDo //Hack and similar key words for comments.?
Why filter everything? I really don’t understand why Roblox still uses filters. To make it user-friendly. Ok but what is the importance of that if many people can curse and the filter doesn’t work many times, and instead filters allot of normal words. Then it seems like Roblox doesn’t give much importance about that.
Just give us freedom of typing, even in Roblox Studio for God’s sake!
What would be stopping you guys from removing the filter for 18+ phone verified users, similar to how it works for Party Chat?
As long as everyone in the current session meets those requirements, I would imagine it to work that way. Team Create is invite based anyway, similar to how friends/connections are, so it wouldn’t be public. Not opposed to a filter keeping younger team collaborators safe, but I’d appreciate a way for older users who don’t require needless protection to comment without filters.
Thanks
Like others have said, what’s even the point in filtering? It just makes comments unnecessarily hard and complicated to use. As of now I would actually rather take the time to code a comments plugin, than try to deal with the text filters. I can understand having a reports system for comments, but the majority of people using studio are not going to be misusing the feature. There’s really nothing to gain by filtering them.
We’re working on making the experience better! Just keep in mind that if you do have any suggestions that you would like to have implemented to team chat revived, do not hesitate to let me know either in the DevForum post, or a DevForum DM.
In my understanding, I don’t think Roblox really tolerates this kind of stuff. I hate to say it but I think any team chat related plugins should add a filter just in case Roblox notices and decides they want to take the entire plugin down.
I did a very in-depth topic about the filtering, you guys might be interested in it:

Use textlabel to chat. So easy to bypass. Filters on something so bypass-able is not good choice.
Edit: Just a bit confused why roblox would make that choice of filtering when it is so bypassable
I’m really hoping that Roblox doesn’t decide to put a filter on TextLabels because then 90% of games on this platform are probably going to have tons of hashtags replacing everything because of how this filter works.
By the way just curious on this part. Has anyone found a FFlag for this “Comments” collaboration feature? I would like to try it out but I don’t really want to wait a month just for this feature.
I’ve had bad experiences with the overzealous text filtering to the point it would randomly start censoring made-up brand names like “Roarkel” or “Oretary” which literally lead to me having to completely change my games brand identity and studio names similar because they would be picked up by the chat filter.
Both the examples I gave were legitimate instances of the chat filter not flagging these words as I made them, but after a few months to a year on the platform they would suddenly and randomly become censored.
I contacted Roblox Support about this issue, but, as you probably already know - the support teams are trained to assist in non-technical matters like ban-appeals and copyright infrigement rather than engine/web-stack issues so nothing particularly came from it.
In summary, this was both the in-engine/in-game chat filter and the website text filter. Both seem to be seperate from one another - I’m not sure of the technical backend of this; but sometimes things filtered in-engine are not filtered on-website and vice versa.
This is a really great update 10/10.
Honestly, I don’t think its a terrible update. This feels like Team Chat V2 but its commented anywhere. I do think there should probably be a option to have this in solo project as well.
Can make it more useful for availability in solo project. Makes it easier for developers that wants to put notes/reminders for certain stuff.
Not a fan of the filter because its Studio, but we’ve been using these for our new game and its actually one of the few “collaboration” features that I like
This update is good and all but I wonder if it will even be available to developers 12 and younger who use Roblox Studio, because I swear if this update is 13+ then Roblox is definitely overreacting a little with the age group availability with the features.
We always have textlabels to bypass text filters so they can say anything regardless of who they are. If they filter then ok update but makes little sense.
If they filter the young children might as well not want access to it.
Is there a way to turn this off? The key “C” is what I commonly use for a plugin and now the commands are overlapping.
This is quite insignificant for developers, especially the mature ones, we can’t even mention the word ‘Discord’ without it getting filtered. Why not have the same level of moderation as the DevForum for Studio comments?
I mean, why even have moderation in the first place? Can’t developers just speak their mind, they are creating the games after all? I don’t see a reason why the comments have moderation.
