Will users who are 17+ and verified be allowed less heavily moderated voice chats in games that are 17+? If not, this feature would be great. Right now there is little to no incentive to even try to make 17+ games because of the heavy moderation. I tried to upload an asset for a game with “Bar” in it and it got moderated… It’s almost as if we can’t even make games that are intended to be 17+ without being scared of moderation.
Roblox, unfortunately for all parties involved, doesn’t have to care.
They are not legally at fault because this action would be identity fraud, and would instead be interpreted as a crime committed against the Roblox Corporation by the “kid(s)” in question.
Whether the people who did “bypass verification” are actually under the age of 17, however, is a debate for another topic.
For legal reasons, the author, @CatzRule_81, does not support nor condone the action(s) of identity theft and/or identity fraud.
17+ games are available right now, not 17+ assets. This is just phase one of the rollout, but then again, we know how Roblox is with release dates/schedules/plans.
How are you supposed to make a “17+ game” without the use of 17+ assets? It’s just simply a game then… I’d like to re-instate again that there is ZERO point of making a 17+ game right now. You aren’t even able to advertise!
I…what? What kind of question is this? 17+ assets are not yet supported, why are you acting like they are?
And yeah, we can’t advertise yet. I will admit, that’s unfortunate, but it’s no reason to be screaming at me. I’m sure Roblox will one day (probably a long time from now) allow this. To re-state what I said earlier:
I hope they reconsider 17+ Experiences country lock in near feature. It feels sad to left out.
Please could we get some clarification on this? Bingo is “gambling based” but is used as an example for something that is strictly permitted.
If I were to go down the route of making it so you always win something without an intrinsic value similar to an arcade, would that be fine?
Gambling is allowed by the laws in Turkey (if the problem is gambling), only casinos are banned.
Thats exactly why I said what I said…LOL
now im feeling like this isn’t roblox, this feels like a whole other different game
but uh thank you i guess??
some games still have blood before this was even here, but i kinda recommend bone exploding shouldn’t be allowed too, because it scare some people off (including 17+ people who still have fears)
literally have nothing to say but ok
stronge language?? oh god i can literally imagine people saying the (you know what it is) word… but i hope some words get limited
lets hope we dont have like werid stuff that offend people
THANK YOU FOR NOT ALLOWING THIS, I would’ve been scared as heck if this was enabled for 17+ experiences.
plus, if the link is allowed by roblox, a link can be in a game, like fandom, thats my recommendation
im kinda confused by the way, i thought you guys just said “no alcohol” and then a few seconds later, you probably might allow it, but this is kinda a balanced change for roblox
so
thank you
also, can we also use a red SOLO cup in under 17+ games? some families use the cups when their under-aged
That virtual dating thing sounds like a complete embarrassment, no idea what they were thinking
It has been 2 weeks since this was first announced and there is still only a single PR-laced response that explains absolutely nothing. The reply does not “answer many of the questions asked”, it just rephrases the thread. There needs to be moderation staff actively engaging and communicating here, given the nature of this change.
I am not asking for much here. “2 weeks is too short, give them some time” is not an acceptable deflection. There are a lot of small or clarification concerns that need to be addressed to stop developers from being subject to hair trigger moderation – I’ve already been contacted regarding this and it shouldn’t even be my job because I’m not staff. It goes to show how unclear and arbitrary some of these policies are and someone needs to communicate.
A catch-all non-response is not going to work when developers would love to consider developing experiences for more mature audiences but when Roblox itself encourages breaking the very rules it set up and doesn’t have full support for such an approach, this could be fatal to the livelihoods of some developers. This needs careful direct address. Enough blanket non-responses.
Now, if I am jumping the gun and the reason for the lack of response is needing to review policies further with the policy team… I don’t understand why those weren’t clarified from the outset. Roblox should know how seriously its developers take moderation concerns due to the issues raised in the past and present about it. This whole thing needs more work at the drawing board. Don’t be eager in sending this out without the proper support and tools necessary.
i was REALLY excited for this. upsetting to know this update would be unavailable in my country
I have a feeling that there is some underlying legal reason other than just an NDA that Roblox isn’t letting on about regarding their relative silence in this thread. For now, it’s best we wait for them to make an update thread in a few months. Worst case scenario is that we don’t get an update until late 2024.
lets start with the basics: dont make your guy lose a gut.
I’m pretty sure severe body harm is like, realistic depictions of a guy losing an arm or getting decapitated by a freaking guillotine. I doubt that they would prohibit stuff like some small bleeding or a cut. There’s probably more to that, but the big rule is, if he loses a limb, it’s probably gonna hurt. Severely hurt.
I do agree that the details here are pretty fuzzy, but that’s my thought.
South Korea? Huh. I never would have guessed they’d have that sort of thing on lockdown, they seemed pretty forward-thinking there
Just before I was sure off leaving the Community as a Developer, my biggest wishes come true!
I hope there will be more precise words on what is and what is not allowed in terms of swearing, alcohol aswell as Voice Acting
If intense violence is now allowed, what counts as severe bodily injury?
This is rather confusing, and like usual… disappointingly vague!
Why would any developer cut themselves off the majority of the plattform only to be able to put more detailed blood in their game, what about limb loss?
I can understand not allowing organs to be shown to a degree…
but there could be more clarity.
It has to be worth it going 17+ in the end, and it should go beyond just being able to portray more detailed blood, id like to know more in the end on what is and what isnt allowed, profanity… alcohol use, topics the story can discuss… and voice acting
Final edit:
I have found more clarity in the Policy standards in terms of violence aswell as Alcohol use, id like knowing more on Voice acting and profanity though^^
Sorry if I was being rude, Good Day / Night!

Starting today, 17+ experiences have launched and are discoverable for eligible 17+ users in their recommendations. We’re currently live on all platforms except for iOS.
At this moment, 17+ experiences are unavailable in Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
Those who are 17 and older and completed Age Verification are able to enjoy these experiences.
Thank you.
Can you give me a single 17+ game that averages >500 players on this new update.
And can you tell me why most 13+ games don’t wanna change, is it because they fear they may lose playres?
