But also… Roblox says that we have to use their filter on all text sharing system, plus we can try to make and combine our own systems together with roblox’s filter to make an even better filter Neural networks for gods sake.
Also, roblox has a chat that uses their default filtering system (If I am not mistaken), so making a cross game communication chat won’t make it any better.
Why would a “malicious server owner” exist? The server owner would either be roblox or me, since it would be a separate Cross game server. I personally wouldn’t allow this type of message through my server, and neither would roblox. You aren’t making a point is what I’m saying. Also if you’re Tyfor_Dev’s alt, I’m not sure alts are allowed on the forums…
You can all people in the community that know me. I’m not the kind of person that would use malicious server usage to stop friendships from occurring/starting…
Thats very true, however I believe playing with chat in that way is against TOS (correct me if i’m wrong)
Also thats smaller scale, the developer could only harass the user in that one game, we are talking robloxwide here which is a lot more severe.
Playing with the chat in a way that modifies a message maliciously is against the TOS regardless of if it is in one game or in cross-game chat, so if someone tried to do this then they would get banned.
Then that would mean that any chat system is against the TOS. Obviously this isn’t true because nearly every game has some sort of chat system. I see absolutely no reason why a cross-game chat would be against the TOS if both games were using it non-malicously.
Any chat system That leaves messages vulnerable to modifiction from individuals who did not send the message is against TOS, im sure if the chat system was modified to give the developer power over individual messages, that would not be allowed.
Literally any chat system is vulnerable to modification from individuals who didn’t send the message because the developer of the game could easily modify the message. Of course modifying the message in a malicious way is against the TOS. Also you spelled modification wrong.
I think it more boils down to the fact that roblox chat is handled by roblox, this system uses http requests meaning roblox has a lot less power over it, especially as they cant view the external source code.
Anyway, i’m not roblox. I advised the OP to contact roblox with the details and see their verdict. but for now ima
Roblox in-game chat is not handled by Roblox and it is in lua and can be modified by the developer of the game. All you have to do to fork the default chat is press play, and then copy the contents of the Chat service located in the explorer.
Roblox has a chat system on every game!!! Yet people can sometimes get around the filter system and say something mean / absolutely horrible!!! Yet… how are they against the TOS / would roblox take moderation action against themselves?
This is nothing to do with the filter system, it’s to do with people being able to modify. data to benefit their needs
As stated, I told the OP to contact roblox, I’ve said what I’ve had to say which you obviously have not received the point of and I’d appreciate it if people stopped trying to lengthen this debate no one but roblox can finish.
In that case… then that would be against the TOS, and roblox could take moderation action against the person(s) modifying the chat text in a malicious way.
